I spent 7 hours in the starting area, doing every side quest available.

I've been on the island for like 5 hours now and haven't touched the main quest. I still am at the quest to go meet the native queen.

I've been doing entirely side quests, some of them are surprisingly in depth. Make sure you do them as ranking up reputations with factions gives fantastic rewards in your player chest.

I habe been siding with the natives every chance I get, as per usual for me. The quest to meet the bridge alliance governer, my squad said to probsbly not bring the native girl with me because she'd go off on the governer. Brought her anyway, worth it lol.

The native girl is ridiculously useful in combat, she spams health spells a lot and breaks armor easily. I've been running with her and Kurt. Kurt is my bro, gotta have him with me.

I love the multiple approaches to most quests. I've been mostly going endurance and agility, as a warrior type.

damn, i really wanna play Greedfall but can't afford new games right now. is it everything people are saying it is? it's what a Bioware game should be? does it follow in the footsteps of Dragon Age: Origins?
It's a AA version of an older style Bioware game, in essence. It's got some eurojank aspects still, but is more polished than games of that style tend to be. Dragon age origins is a good comparison in terms of how the game is structured.
Also, the game is only $50 new on consoles, and you can find it for as low as $40 on pc.

What's crazy is for how big the game is, it's only 11gb file size.

It's got some really cool environments, the cities in particular are great looking. One of the Arab influenced cities on the island looks downright incredible when you come upon it the first time and see its cityscape in the distance.

The combat is super easy, so I recommend playing on a higher setting.

It's pseudo open world, in that there are zones, but not large open world, it's very dragon age origins in how it's structured. You have these smaller open areas, camps, etc.. Every time you travel in between zones, you go to a camp where you can craft, sell/buy, talk to your companions, etc..

It's very easy to get sucked into doing side quests for so long you forget about the main quest. The music is pretty great too.

Also, it is a "fashion souls" game through and through. So so so so many clothing options. Especially hats. Lots and lots of fancy hats.

Considering this is DA-esque, I'm gonna guess there's no unarmed option?

Nope. Blades, blunts, guns, magic.

It's not as polished as AAA, but not as janky as most eurojank combat.

Easy combat guide:

Blunts: normal physical damage plus high armor damage.
Blades: high physical damage with normal armor damage
2h variants of blades and blunts do aoe damage and knockback, as well as more easily break your enemy's balance/poise, are slower, but the more swings you can do without being stopped increases effects with each one, a combo basically.
The same can be said for the difference between long guns and pistols. Long guns do more armor damage.
Magic ignores armor all together.

No matter what playstyle you go for, you should have elosir or whatever her name is in your party, the native girl. She's the only healer party member, does Elemental damage to enemies, and replenishes your health and armor. She's the most useful party member in the game.

I run with her and petrus, the old armored mage guy.

There's tons of kinds of hats, and helmets. And yes you can.

I'm glad to hear you can get up to that level before finishing the game though.

Dunno if you've passed this part or not, but there's a main mission where you have to follow this potential cultist who might be worshipping a demon, and you have to light candles in a specific order. If you fail the order, enemies spawn and you can just repeat it over and over. And there's a later mission where you have to hit drums in an order or else enemies spawn. As far as I can tell, you can repeat it as many times as you want. I went level 14 to 22 before getting super bored lol

the coin arena, specifically stage 5 round 3 (last stage and round period), monster is easy to beat and gives around 2000 to 2500 exp per every time you kill it, and it can be repeated again right after (you get to choose the stage and round to fight again). so yeah, quick and easy level up. especially comes in handy when you wanna unlock abilities and talents.

I'm telling you, you'll be very surprised by him. His whole personal quest line is him investigating the dirty deeds the church does. He always questions his faith and doesn't take it too seriously. He's the most vocal teammate in the game, and always comments on stuff with lore things. He's a big softy and nice. He's not a nutbag like the rest of his ilk.

It's legitimately really fun, and a refreshing entry in the RPG genre. There's no DLC (beyond the pre-order bonus), no microtransactions...just you, a bunch of skills/talents/attributes to invest in, teammates to influence, and a big semi open world to explore.

I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's worth the 50 dollar price tag.

sounds badass
Guns do the most armor and physical damage in terms of a balance between the two. If you go the gunner route, you end up never taking a single hit and just shooting everything dead from afar.

Magic is the "weakest" link. It gets really powerful but takes more skill points to reach that point than the other playstyles do.

Oh and something you may enjoy, is that you control your party members' gear too. If you dip into charisma you improve their strength in combat too.

There's a lot of ways to build you and your team, and virtually everything is viable. With no microtransactions or dlc to speak of. Well, except that little starter pack thing with some starter gear in it that gets replaced in the first two hours of gameplay lol.
