I've played and beat every single AC game except Valhalla, and every time I'm like "hmm, I'm interested", I just can't pull the trigger and get it. I think about how Ubisoft games have progressed and all become so homogenous, with massive open worlds filled with endless pointless busy work, excessive grinding, etc.. Every single one of their games is essentially the same at their core now. Odyssey got fucking ridiculous after a while. Not to mention the excessive monetization.

Ghost of tsushima was basically an AC game, but better. It had bloat, but almost all of it could be avoided if you wanted, whereas ubi games you are forced to do a big chunk of the side bloat in some capacity.

Not to mention the culture at Ubisoft itself. Rampant sexual abuse with management that covers it up going to the highest level.

Ubisoft has become one of the worst triple a developers/publishers.

I haven't really played any of their stuff since the relatively early 360/PS3 days. I just didn't like the "feel" of any of their games, it's hard to really explain.

It's not hard to explain, it's basically what I said how they're all homogeneous and "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle"

It's crazy to think that over 10 years ago they were a publisher with a huge amount of variety and now it's basically open world games or games as a service multiplayer titles.

I loved Origins story, but only with the dlcs that actually complete the story. I won't say I'm not interested in Valhalla, but I just can't commit to an 80 hour game of bloat anymore.

They've outright said all their single player games will be their tried and true open world formula from here on out.

Yeah this quote makes me sad

Ubisoft is now synonymous with open worlds, yet is there any chance it would ever return to more focused outings like Assassin's Creed Unity?
"No," CEO Yves Guillemot tells GamesIndustry.biz. "Our goal is to make sure you can have a Unity within an Odyssey. If you want to have a story of 15 hours, you can have it, but you can also have other stories. You live in that world and you pursue what you want to pursue. You have an experience, many Unity-like experiences."

That's such bullshit too, because while the stories themselves may be 15 hours, you can't just focus on them. You're forced to do a decent chunk of the open world busy work because of level gating and stuff.

Worse. If Splinter cell does come back, it'll be open world somehow. Think ghost recon most recent games.

I remember after playing GR Wildlands i saw a trailer for an AC game, I think the one in Egypt where the hawk was literally a drone

They just copy paste and reskin shit

Ubisoft is quickly approaching Nintendo levels of lazy cashgrab

I play AC specifically because of how consistently busy it is. When you're stuck home sick, it's downright soothing. They probably want it to be exciting, but you don't get excitement from the uniform grayness of Ubisoft.

Because publishers believe people won't buy a game unless it's a 60+ hour game, even if most of that content is busy work.
