Whoever made the schedule and decided that Browns/Bengals in primetime this early in the season when all people want to do is watch good football should be fired.

When was the last time the Browns were favoured by 6 or more points? This line seems crazy to me.

I'd give them the odds to win the game but I don't think you can ever feel good about taking the Browns -6. This is the type of game that could be 10-7 Bengals in the 4th quarter.

the point is if you say a line is crazy, and then the result of the game is only one point off the spread, and that the Browns were more or less covering for large portions of the game, you dont really get credit for taking the Bengals

I feel like thats kind of a semantics argument though. Sure, my reasoning was wrong in the sense that I got lucky on the back door cover, but I still stand by "this is a crazy line", and at the end of the day I was technically right when it ultimately came to what I was talking about, which was the cover.

If I posted "Bengals +6" and nothing else, I guess I would have looked better, but where's the fun in that? Most of my posts involve me screwing around or talking shit one way or another, I thought it was hilarious that I was so entirely wrong for 99% of the game only to fall backwards into being right at the very last second, but I guess y'all have an issue with that lmao

Even my series of posts went like, "I'm so convinced about this" to "nevermind I'm an idiot" to "I was right I'm a genius". Clearly I was already making fun of myself before it had to be pointed out that I was wrong when if we look at the most technical sense, I was right.

The betting sites didn't look at my reasoning and only award me half of my money.

To be fair, "degree of right" does matter in some cases. Like if someone goes "I wouldn't be surprised if x team wins this game"and they win, I wouldn't give that person credit because they essentially straddled the line, intentionally or otherwise, to where they'd "Technically" be right either way, but they didn't go out and actually make a prediction. Covering your bases, essentially.

In regards to david's initial post, obv he didn't intend it to be this way but I do think it was vague enough that it might have come off as the above situation. It's a little murkier with spreads usually, but a lot of people see "implying" as basically just a half-assed pick rather than going all in and actually making a pick (which in theory opens yourself up to meaningless shame and/or ridicule but greater 'reward' if you get it right)

Alright, Emerald's right, and @KommunistKoala , you're also right, I didn't mean to hijack the NFL topic with me being absurd just for the sake of it, and it won't happen again. I'll stick to my general trash talk because no one wants to read this shit anyway.

I blame the sports group chat I have with some IRL friends, where we spend all our time arguing like this about nonsense, knowing at the end of the day it all doesn't matter. No, no, you are right! I was being 100% sincere there even though it easily could be interpreted as the opposite considering I was 15 minutes removed from the complete opposite of sincerity.

The Packers has basically everything go right for them last year. They didnt have half the team in IR like they usually do, every bounce went their way, and then things like that.

Id like to think they have a real shit this year, but they arent making the Super Bowl. Ill have to be happy rewatching their win in 2010 over and over again.

It all depends on the O line and injuries for the Packers. Last year they vastly overperformed - that team should've been 8-8 or 9-7. This year they should theoretically be better, maybe a 10 win team.

Give Rodgers time and keep the defense healthy throughout the year

They already have injuries all over the place this year, more big ones than they did all of last season. If they werent playing the Lions, who are even worse injury wise, Id be nervous this week
