I don't agree that the 1980 is considered millennial. To me after 1990 it's more of the entitled millennials. Before that was a lawless waste land full of wooden playground equipment that broke all the time and metal merry go rounds you could burn your face on if you're you managed to hold on long enough and not be thrown off into a basket ball hoop pole 12 feet away.

Walking to school at age 4 was still a thing. In winter. In a blizzard.

Threw up on the way? You're already half way there might as well finish.

20 below once you get to school? Sorry kids. Doors open 5 minutes before school starts. Not before.

Or maybe I just come from a lawless wasteland that raised self sufficient people and I don't connect to my own generation.

No. it's not about what we think. the concept of generations was created by sociologists and demographers 1980 to 2000 are millennials

People born after 2001 until today ARE NOT MILLENNIALS they are called Generation Z I see some people calling them millennials when they are a completely separate generation

I too am a huge fan of lumping different people from across various backgrounds together into one category and assuming they're all the same simply because they were born in the same 20-year span.

Because there seems to be no clear consensus on the exact group it applies to? I've seen it used both for born around and coming of age around 2000. Neither of which applies to me. So is it that weird I do not consider myself a millennial?

People that were born in 1980 are Generation X. Older people that are our parents the Baby Boomers.

Generation x is from 1961 to 1980 boomers are before that from 1945 to 1960
