Milly is closer to Lelouch than just about anyone. I'd say the only person who might be as close is C2, and Suzaku at the end of everything. But that doesn't mean he cares about her the same way he cares about Shirley. There was definitely some romantic interest towards Shirley, you can see it just in the way he interacts with her. Milly and Lelouch is practically older sister/little brother.

I agree.

Anyway, this is one of those debates that could go on forever so let's just drop it.

It was bad enough when Shirley was hopelessly in love with Lelouch. The fact that seemingly half of Kallen's screen time in R2 was devoted to her feelings for him was very annoying.

That's because it was an important element to Kallen's development in the second season. The first season, we saw her motivations to fight (her land, her brother, and finally her mother), but the second season focused more on her relationship with Lelouch, It did a lot to make Kallen a more interesting and endearing character.

Except it wasn't one-sided. Lelouch shows he does care deeply about Kallen. Whether they're romantic feelings or not, saying it's "one-sided" implies indifference on Lelouch's part, and we both know that's untrue. A lot of Kallen's development came in the first season. The second season focused on her relationship with Lelouch because they couldn't explore it at all in the first season.

As for her being jealous of C2, I found it cute. Mainly because the tough-as-nails chick still has some insecurities about herself.

You know, I think I might have a good idea for a project for the first season.

So here's what I'm thinking:

Audio record watchthroughs of the first season.

Now obviously, I can't just record the audio, dub it over the show, and then give it to you guys. I assume (and TRE can correct me here) that it would be against the ToS. What I would do is simply give you guys the audio, and if you have a copy of Code Geass (which I assume you do or you can get relatively easy enough), I'd just give you a sync point to line everything up. Or, if you wanted to, just listen to the audio. It's really up to you.

What I'm wondering is how I would format these, so I'll throw out some ideas:

1. I do it solo, give some final thoughts about the episode, and end each episode with a character write-up so to speak (i.e. rank my top 25 characters).
2. I let someone commentate with me. Could be anyone willing and with a mic. We'd do the commentary at the same time and we'd end it with our final thoughts. I would still do the top 25 characters.
3. I do the episode solo, then bring someone on at the end who has been watching it with me but wasn't recorded on audio, and I give them some time to give their thoughts on the episode as well. I think works better than option 2 because that one might become a mess if we're constantly interrupting each other's thoughts or if one of us drags on too long and we miss out our chance to commentate on something we want to talk about. Once again, I give a character on my top 25 list.

The reason why I want to do a project like this is because I really want to give season 1 the justice it deserves. A simple character ranking just didn't seem like enough, but I didn't want to do the same format for season 1 as I did for season 2 because A) it was a pain and B) it was completely reactionary. Season 1 would be more about reflection and opinion than sudden outbursts from new information. And I feel like this is both easier for me and a better way to describe my thoughts on the series.

Anyway, not many posts left in this topic, so hopefully you guys give some good feedback before it closes. In the mean time, I'm going to finally start archiving this stuff.

I think a complete audio record watchthrough of the first season is a lot of work to be doing and as you say it's difficult to distribute your work. It's also a large time comment for someone to watch through all of your work so not as many people would be willing to do that. If you think you'll have fun doing it, you could still do it. However, I think it may be too much work for such a small audience.

Keep in mind, I'd be updating one by one episode, not having to watch the entire thing.

Secondly, I don't see how it's a bigger commitment than what I already did. Keep in mind, it was taking me roughly 2 hours to do these write-ups thanks the constant pausing to finish a thought, then having to come back and watch it again to ensure I didn't miss anything. With a record watch-through, I'm literally commenting as things happen, no pauses or anything. These would also be unfiltered thoughts as I watched the episodes, so I wouldn't be going back and editing anything I said or adding anything. The goal would be to already have some ideas before hand (since I've already seen the season), while having the commentary going while you watch an episode.

The way I was doing it before would take multiple hours. This way, it'd take me the length of an episode plus the time to upload it. Much quicker and much easier than this topic.

This was too much work for a small audience. Hell, I kinda wished I did my audio record style for this topic. For one thing, I'd comment less on what's happening and get to comment more on my thoughts on any events happening on screen. Cause the reader would have the option of simply watching the events unfold while I give my thoughts rather than having me give vague descriptions of the event AND trying to give my thoughts.

If you do either of these I would love to be one of the other people.

With something like this though it should really be whichever way you like. Adding another person will obviously make things a little more difficult.

I'd certainly listen to them either way.
