I spread the rumor to some friends and got them excited, too.

Even if it isn't true, the wait and speculation has been kind of fun. It's honestly been one of the best offseasons for a show in that regard that I've experienced.

Also I kind of like the Ask Berry Punch tumblr.

Back during the first Season 2 leak, Sabrina Alberghetti made a few comments about Dischord. I can't find the link now (think it was buried somewhere on DA), but she said that he was a "fun" character. Seeing as I would definitely not call Nightmare Moon a "fun" character, that leaves me wondering. Maybe he's a kid-friendly version of the Joker, or maybe she means they gave him crazy animations.

Season 2 coming up soon has got me thinking. Season 1 was undeniably a good kids show, but is that good enough? When I was a kid a lot of the shows I watched were good shows, period. Is FiM going to hold up in a few years when the craze has died down? Here's a few things I'd like to see from season 2:

1) More character depth. Each pony has their own defining character trait (element of harmony) and the one thing they really like, but we need more than that. Maybe Fluttershy hates seagulls ever since one killed her father. Twilight loves to read but maybe she feels inadequate about the fact that it's really really hard to write her own books with hooves for hands, I dunno. This leads to number 2.

2) Character centric episodes - give the mane cast a break. Season 1 was good about this sometimes, but it was also pretty bad about it too. Don't feel the need to give each of the mane 6 their moment in an episode. Feel free to give Rainbow Dash her own personal 23-minute quest or something. This lead to 3.

3) Use them side-characters. So many fan-named ponies standing around in the background doing nothing, do something with them! Flesh out the world a bit and let the mane characters grow by interacting on a consistent basis with ponies that aren't their best friends.

4) Cohesive time line. No more of that winter leading into summer leading into fall bull****. Follow a time line people! Greg Weisman can show you how to accomplish this!

5) Continuity. The big one. Someone earlier in this topic said that the amount of character development the show fits into an episode is impressive. No dude, that's not impressive! Any Joe kids show can follow a formula of character does something -> character ****s up -> they learn not to do that thing they did. This is children's TV 101 and FiM isn't special. What's much more difficult is building up stories and character development over multiple episodes in a consistent and satisfying way, giving us small pieces with which to build a larger puzzle. Stories that take multiple episodes or even a whole season to conclude, lessons that aren't learned immediately, etc. This also includes making sure lessons are remembered and that everything we see sticks.

6) More singing!

7) Rarity is the best pony. (More of a fun fact than a suggestion!)

Well duh, it's up to the creators to come up with the actual ideas. Also I don't have a problem with the show per se, just some things I'd like to see from it.
