at first I wasn't sure if this was my thing, but it is pretty fun to go through a few extra times to try and get a better time and find the SECRETZ

alternate paths are the best. so are the titles. this game would be a lot better with 1000g instead of 200g since it's so ideal for achievements. it sucks how XBLA and achievements match up better than retail games due to their arcade-y nature but they only allow a fraction of the points. oh well.

also, this game has an awful demo. stage 1 kinda sucks a lot. HMH gradually gets better until it's absolutely awesome at the end.

That "Super Hero Wars" multiplayer mode is just as weird as it ought to be, swaddled as it is in all this other lunacy. It pits you against other players to see who can make it through a given quest faster. But there are all these weird limitations in place. For instance, shops only have one of each item to sell, so you're even racing other players just to arm yourself. And only one player at a time sinks their money into resetting the clock, which benefits all players--but if nobody does it, everyone loses. So there are a lot of ways you can screw over the other players to get ahead in the race to beat the boss. (It helps if you cackle while doing this.) The multiplayer is oddly exhilarating, which is definitely a contrast to the slow baby-making jam that plays in the lobby where you set up matches against other people.

I need to try this. it sounds really stupid but with the right friends it could be positively awesome. Kleenex and I will do this one day and we will piss each other the hell off playing chicken with the time statue.

Also, I've read that Quest 8's evil lord on the bottom path used to be some weirdo named Douglas on the PSP game. I'm much happier with this version's evil lord.

Nah, the Evil Lord in that quest was the same in the PSP version, at least in the US.

In Japan I think it was Douglas, and he probably didn't have the same lines!

my times are sliding down the leaderboard. still #1 on quest 11 though. damn you smartguy for barely beating my time on that sleeping evil lord level

Hahahaha, look at the leaderboard for the Last Battle. There's a bunch in the 4' range, some in the 3' range, and a few in the 2' range. And then all of a sudden, #1 is 29 seconds.

is that hero 300? 30 seconds should be completely impossible. you couldn't run to where you need to be in 30 seconds, let alone battles.

generally getting wonderful hero ranks is pretty reasonable, then out of nowhere some levels are like "what". I just captured the 35th best time for one of the quest 13s (the one where you have to swim), and it's still just a true hero rank!
