*All ratings are on a 1-10 scale where 5 is average*
Lady Gaga - Heavy Metal Lover [6.1/10] (I have to say this is a fair bit better than most of the stuff coming off Born This Way. I like it's heavy feel, and the whole song is kind of entrancing) The Faint - Glass Danse [4.5/10] (Never been a big fan of that sort of backthroat talking that passes as singing in songs like these, though the actual music does a good job of making up for it, in a way. Not great, but it was worth the listen) Ace of Base - Black Sea [8/10] (The tune is very good and the beat nice and pulsating, although I have to say this song is VERY reminiscent of another one I've heard somewhere. Not sure which one, though) Kanye West - Barry Bonds [5.8/10] (Sick beats, decent flow, typical Kanye) Mika - Touches You [3.9/10] (It's not horrible, but nothing at all memorable, which is funny, considering the song) Aurora - Estranged [5/10] (Nothing particularily bad about this song, but the same can be said for things that stand out. Though it's hard to have serious opinions of a song I don't understand the lyrics to. I realize you probably disagree, but that's always how it's been for me) Cinta - Flop Poppy [3.5/10] (Not a very catchy tune, singing is too soft. Just not that great) Tunak Tunak Tun - Daler Mehndi [4.9/10] (Silly happy song is silly and happy) Huan Wo Yi Ge Tai Ping Tian Xia (Give Me Back My Peaceful World) - Liao Changyong [4/10] (This song cracks me up, and I know it's not supposed to. I just can't help but giggle when he's singing those long notes) Honest Eyes by Black Tide [5.9/10] (It's not bad, but it's kind of generic. A more unique tune or lyrics or something would have really helped) Lit - Four [5.2/10] (It just feels overdone. Like I've heard this kind of song so many times already. It's not bad, but lack of uniqueness eats up whatever >6 score it could have gotten) And bonus jump ahead because of threats of nullified epiphanies: Courtney Stodden - Don't Put It On Me [Unintentional(?) Comedy/10] (Put it under "R" for "R.B., Rebecca Black) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ... Alright, after this I'm taking a nap, so more will be coming around...5 PM MST or so?
Blink-182 - Always [6.9/10] (Standard Blink, and that's a good thing) Beach Boys - Good Vibrations (Live in London) [5.8/10] (Would have been better non-live, and the same will most likely be said for every live version of a song listed from here on out) Simply Red - Money's Too Tight (To Mention) [7/10] (A classic, to put it simply) John Coltrane - Giant Steps [5.8/10] (In typical fashion, I'm appreciating jazz more as I get older. Still, it's nothing that's really catching me right now. Give it time) Frank Zappa - Inca Roads [4.4/10] (Beginning reminded me of Donkey Kong Country. Anyway, Zappa's always been one of those artists who I want to get into, but just can't manage it, for some reason. It's not bad, but it's just not really my thing) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ... Digable Planets - Where I'm From [6.2/10] (Gotta love the classics. Old rap/hiphop just has that certain legitimate quality that most of today don't)
LOTP - Voel Je Goed [5.8/10] (Incredibly catchy tune for a song that's supposed to be a joke nom) Tyler The Creator - Yonkers [3.7/10] (Arthouse rap? That's what it strikes me as. I don't know, this one's probably going right over my head, but I can't really get into it) Earl Sweatshirt - EARL [4/10] (Basically the same thing as the above song, but a bit better) Mellowhype - 64 [4/10] (See previous song) 07th Expansion (Birth of a New Witch) [4.8/10] (It's alright for what it is. That's about all there is too it) Fair to Midland - Musical Chairs [5.9/10] (The deathmetal yell to soft singing voice in the beginning made me chuckle. After that point, it wasn't bad at all) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ... Portugal. The Man - The Dead Dog [4.7/10] (Reminds me of the not-so-memorable tracks from TV on the Radio. It's not bad, but it's nothing incredibly interesting)
Elliott Smith - King's Crossing [6/10] (This, on the other hand, reminds me of later Beatles. Not bad, though it seems lacking for what it is, if that makes any sense) The Dear Hunter - Lillian [3.5/10] (The first verse seems off-tempo with the rest of the song; like the drummer was hitting his beats slightly too early. This really took away from the song for me) Dessa - Dixon's Girl [3.9/10] (The singing is kind of muffled behind the tune, which in itself can't decide if it wants to be waltzy or not. Could have been better with some better production quality) Zuul - Out of Time [6.8/10] (Ever heard of Kesshin? Great band, one of my favorites. This is like a more aggressive, much less catchy version of them. So there you go) Rush - Natural Science [7/10] (Nothing wrong with a little Rush. It's not their best song, but it's good nonetheless) Slough Feg - Hardworlder [7.9/10] (Very good, I must say. Not really much to elaborate on; just an overall good listening experience) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ... King Crimson - Starless [4.9/10] (Would be great late night listening, but when I'm up as I am, it's kind of dull)
Unanimated - Life Demise [Unintentional Comedy/10] (I just can't stop laughing when I hear death metal. It cracks me up. The guitar work is good and all that, but I just can't give it a serious review. Sorry) R.E.M. - It's The End of the World [8.4/10] (Great song, much like a great majority of REM's music) Faith No More - Midlife Crisis [9.9/10] (Last time I did a list of my top 100 favorite songs, this one hit number 10, and it certainly hasn't moved much. It's not only a great song, but it brings back great memories of GTA:SA. Hell yes, this song is beastly) Incubus - Circles [6.1/10] (Good, but I probably won't be humming it any time soon or anything) Nas - What Comes Around [6.4/10] (Nas has some seriously good flow, but the bass is lacking, holding this back just a bit) Limp Bizkit - Hot Dog [2.6/10] (Silly dumb lyrics song is silly with dumb lyrics. Guitar and drum are the same as any other Limp Bizkit song, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing (It works well enough in, say, Rollin'), it's certainly over done. It's not a song I'll seek out to hear again, but I've definitely heard worse) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ... Beirut - Postcards From Italy [5.2/10] (Just nothing worth saying about this one, I'm sorry to say)
The Flaming Lips - Are You A Hypnotist? [5.8/10] (Kind of surrealist, in a good but not-so-memorable way) Okkervil River - Seas Too Far To Reach [6/10] (I like the unprofessional sound of the singer's voice; like, you know he's not some master vocalist who's been practicing for years, but it's still a very calm, soothing, nice sounding voice. The tune goes well with said vocals. It's not a rocket buster of a song or anything, but it's nice) Flogging Molly - If I Ever Leave This World Alive [6.2/10] (It's just a very adaquate song. I'm having a hard time putting into words what I like specifically about it, but I definitely think it's above average) Mariachi El Bronx - Cell Mates [5/10] (It's weird hearing Mexican music with clear English vocals. Anyway, I'd classify this as the definition of average. I don't think it's spectacular, but I don't think it's got any downside) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ... Flight of the Conchords, "Frodo" [3.3/10] (No idea what to say. Just all around unentertaining as a song) Horward Shore, "Concerning Hobbits" [6.5/10] (Certainly does a good job making you feel like the situation is one of calm, happy relaxation, which, given the subject, is what I think I'm supposed to get here) Eric Clapton's "Layla" played by a Dwarf [3.7/10] (Good rendition for an in-game thing, from what I can tell, but it just makes me wish I was listening to the real song) Rhett & Link, "Fast Food Folk Song" [6/10] (Good, catchy tune, but honestly, I'm just shocked the guy at the window got everything. Glee - Don't Stop Believing [5.8/10] (One near-universal law for me: covers only ever make me want to hear the original more than the cover itself. There are few exceptions, and most of them involve Johnny Cash. Obviously, its not horrible or anything (After all, it's covering a good song, and rather faithfully at that), but you'd be hard pressed to find me listening to this willingly over Journey's version)
Glee - Run Joey Run [5.5/10] (I've never heard the orginal version of this song, and it wouldn't be fair to listen to that AFTER this one just to lower it's rating most likely. So it gets all the points the song can get, and while it's not spectacular, it works for what it is) Toeto (Karaoke version) [5/10] (Average. Normal. Run-of-the-Mill) Mamma Mia! OST - Mamma Mia [4/10] (Not nearly as good as the original, and that one isn't much better than average anyway) Keong Racun [3.1/10] (Was fine until the singing started) -- Will not remove this line of my signature until the Seahawks, Jazz or Rockies win a title (Started 5-16-09) http://kazbarmusic.blogspot.com/ ...
