The platforming is awesome (though I wish there was more of it).

Combat is really fun, pretty much every weapon so far is fun to use except the tornado launcher. Upgrading and leveling up weapons is really addicting.

game has some cool personality, and some pretty funny moments. Though for such a funny game, it's kind of odd that ratchet and clank themselves are some of the least remarkable characters so far.

I know a lot of people are down on this game, but as my first ratchet game, awesome. Might be my favorite PS3 game so far.

sooo, side note. Is it worth it to play Booty next, or should I go to Crack in Time? I can get crack in time for 20, it feels like a bit of a waste to spend $15 on a 4 hour game. Thoughts?

Just watch the cutscenes for Quest for Booty or something. It's only 4 hours long as a game, just imagine how long only the cutscenes would be! Just get CiT next.

Yeah, skipping Quest for Booty isn't a big deal.

Especially since you skipped the first four games anyway!

Motion controls are a disgrace to gaming. That's why I'm glad the Ratchet and Clank games come with the option to turn them the f*** off. Otherwise I would have liked ToD and CiT less.

As for the question at hand, just get Crack in Time. It's the best one in the series, there's no reason to prolong it any more than you have to (so don't play Quest for Booty).

I never played Quest for Booty, I actually went backwards. I played Crack in Time first, knew perfectly what was going on, then played Tools of Destruction, and still knew perfectly what was going on. Love those games.

What.

And Yeah, I thought Tools of Destruction was alright but not as good as Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal. But as a first Ratchet game it's definitely good! And yeah, I skipped Quest for Booty. Just read up on it and was good to go. Crack in Time was just as good as the PS2 ones, imo.

The only motion controlled part of R & C I don't like is the tornado launcher. All the short mini games like the geo laser and the decryptor are nice little break ups in the action

I didn't know that was a feature! Those motion control segments were awful. I hated how Tools of Destruction had so many of them and was glad that Crack in Time cut down on them a whole lot. If I had known you could turn them off, I'd have done so in a heartbeat.

I figured it out right at the beginning of the first sky diving section, when it told me to use the SIXAXIS, so I went into the options to see if I could turn it off, and BAM, there it was. Option to turn it off. I was so happy and the rest of the game was so much better because of it.

UYA and GC are the best Ratchet games, hands down. You should definitely play all the console-originating ones, but those two are definitely the best.

UYA > GC > Deadlocked > CiT > ToD > R&C1 > QfB

Haven't played Size Matters or Secret Agent Clank.

Up Your Arsenal doesn't, at least not like the PS3 games have. That's why I didn't get very far in UYA, because I couldn't get used to any of the controls schemes it had. I thought they probably started that new control scheme for Tools of Destruction, or did they start using it in Going Commando? I have that game too, maybe I'll play that one if that's the case.

It's been a while since I played the PS3 games, and then transitioned into UYA, but I know the control schemes are different. Like, in the PS3 games, you can lock-strafe with the push of a button, and then press R1 to fire. And when you release the lock-strafe button, you stop lock-strafing of course. UYA doesn't have that. There's only three control schemes, and the one with R1 to fire has you constantly locked on to enemies, or something, so you can't free run around when there's enemies, makes it difficult to run away and such. And then if you want to have a button to press in order to lock-strafe, the R1 button doesn't fire in that case. So it's one or the other, not both, which is bad, because that's how I'm used to it and that's how I like it.
