I've heard that Magicka itself isn't that long, but it's really given length by its DLC, and that's how they make most of their money. I haven't heard anything past that, but if I get Magicka the game, I figure I might as well go ahead and get the whole pack.
Only played Magicka a bit, and my only complaint is that I keep pressing wasd to move >_<
Also, I was thinking there would be another freebie ticket today, and am now left with 2 tickets. Luckily I also have a couple games I can go into and should be able to get a ticket from fairly easily. (Magicka and Doc Clock)

Bleh, no second Civ 5 sale nor Atom Zombie Smasher. Brotherhood is still tempting, but I'm cautious on the whole not-for-Mac (yet) bit. AC2 came out for Mac shortly after the last sale and so I ended up paying full price, but who knows if that happens again.
My overall haul: Atom Zombie Smasher Sam & Max pack Spacechem
Dead Space Pack is no longer on sale, well not as cheap as it was. Almost bought it yesterday but figured I got enough. Probably would've caved today though if it were still as cheap as it was.

Oh man, I can't help but laugh at the self-entitlement some people feel regarding the Terraria sale. I've seen a bunch of people complain about how because it was $2.49 initially and wasn't corrected quickly enough, it should be kept at that price for the duration of the sale.
I can understand people being angry if the price increased while the game was in their cart, but most of these people aren't in that situation. They are seriously arguing that the developers should have kept it at $2.49 and lost potential profits even though the mistake appears to be on Valve's end.
Of course, it's not about the money, it's about the principle, maaaan!

VeryInsane posted... Anyone know the free to play games you can get tickets from?
hat simulator 2 and spiral knights (though i have heard this one is hard for free play as energy refreshes every day and you need some time to get the item required for the ticket)

Nah, the Spiral Knights one isn't so bad. You basically just need enough money to buy the item. Around 1000 is enough since that's what the "buy it now" prices at the auction house were at when I got it.
I think if you do the stuff required to get the TF2 hat, you should have around enough money to get the bomb for the achievement.

I had no trouble getting the Spiral Knights ticket. Play though the first area to get to the first town, play through the second area to acquire enough money then you can buy the firecracker back in town.

Yeah, unfortunately that means getting killed over and over again by some camping snipers until that pyro decides to light you up, but it should only take half an hour. And that's if you're unlucky.

OK, cool, if I get the four-pack, then I don't have to pick who I send the other 3 to until afterward. I think I'm just going to get it now, and whoever wants one, uh...... I guess we'll figure something out!

Been waiting for Majesty 2, and it never went down in price. So I bought the Paradox Fantasy pack, which includes it, Majesty 1 and some other game for less than the collection itself.

So DoW2 Retribution was 7.50, which was a mistake and the price fixed itself later. But Amazon has the game for 7.50 now, and you can register it on Steam

It was in my cart when it went up.
I could care less about the extra 2.50, but I didn't like how I had no notification that it changed price.
Just curious -- anyone know of some board/card games on Steam? Delve Deeper is okay. Guardians of Graxia looked neat, but no deck editing ruled it out for me. Magic 2012 would be nice, if once again, it had a deck editor. Maybe there's something that I've overlooked...

If you actually play Magic: the Gathering, duels 2012 will make you cry. You seem like you know this already so I won't go into why. Deck editing has a lot to do with it.
The game you are looking for, I believe, is Spectromancer. It was designed by Richard Garfield, creator of Magic, and a few other guys who worked on Magic at one point or another and really know what they're doing. It doesn't have a large number of cards, but the game is set up to not require a lot of them. The third expansion does contain a deck editor, although the game really runs almost as well without one (I never thought I'd say that about any game ever, but just trust me on this). It's definitely worth checking out.
As for board games, Greed Corp is a hex based strategy and it's fun, kind of like Settlers of Catan meets Risk-but-good. Also, I hear Frozen synapse is kind of a turn-based game and it's supposedly really good, but I've never played it or seen footage of it so I don't know for sure.

on 4ways: right now they have inherent flaws, but could be easily fixed by implementing approval voting! ~ToadYoshi 1. SoAL 2. MKW/64 3. FE7 4. TF2 5. FFCC
I love turn based strategy, but I can't really get into greed corp. The gameplay mechanics just rub me the wrong way I guess.
I personally didn't find magic 2012 to be that bad, though mainly because I stopped playing magic a long time ago and appreciated seeing how the game has changed a little bit. Very much a causal game given the lack of all but token deck editing, but I suppose I am mostly a casual magic player these days :p
I could mention risk: factions, but I haven't played it, just seen some vids. Has a short campaign mode, and not a whole lot else to offer...
Frozen Synapse is another I haven't played but have seen some vids and it very much is on my to buy list as it has a lot of awesome things going for it. You have a group of people you give commands to and can simulate what the opponent might do and see how it plays out before you commit to a move. Very VERY tactical.
Not all too much offered on steam for these types of games sadly. About the only other thing I can think of is Gratuitous Space Battles, which isn't really a board/card based game, but there are some tactics involved, the game kinda relies on it because once you start a battle you can only watch it play out. I'd probably check out a video or two before deciding if it is you thing though.

I actually played a demo of Spectromancer a few months ago, I think. It seemed shallow, but it was just the demo so maybe when you add in the deck building it gets a bit more interesting. I'll look into it...
Greed Corp looks interesting -- wish it had a demo.
I did play Frozen Synapse on a friend's computer. Thought I'd love it, but ended up indifferent. I'm still not really sure why.
And I own GSB.
Thanks for the suggestions though! More than I thought I'd get.
