From: KimPilgrim | #100 Brightest Day had some cool stuff but it's just so scattered unorganized. If they released a trade for each individual story it would actually be OK.
That would be the best because I could just ignore all the boring Hawk stuff
That and how stupid it got towards the end are really my only complaints about Brightest Day
-- You have no time to ponder such questions, as Link has just grabbed a Smash Ball. http://backloggery.com/herodeltiempo/sig.gif

That sounds disappointing because what I've read of BN so far has been awesome.

Still a badass. http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/5861/raydyn2.png http://img.imgcake.com/Raydynpngus.png
Blackest Night is still awesome, yeah. Brightest Day was just not a great followup, not as good as it should've been anyway. The ending issues were utter crap.
Blackest Night was awesome. The Brightest Day main series was good for a while and then got dumb. But it doesn't really have too much to do with Night at all in the end, which is...probably why it ended up being so disappointing.
The stuff in Green Lantern/Corps/Emerald Warriors that got labeled "Brightest Day" but actually had nothing to do with it was still great. Except for Corps, which was "meh" and then SINESTRO redeemed it.
If you think of Brightest Day as just interesting stories about major DC characters that are underexposed to recent DC fans, people who just got in with Blackest Night for example, rather than a long event comic, it looks better.
MARVEL: Marvel Universe vs. Wolverine #2 of 4 Daredevil #1 Ultimate Fallout #2 Invincible Iron Man #506 Avengers Fear Itself #15 Iron Man 2.0 #7 (the cover with the girl figure skating; it was damaged so I just took it) Fear Itself Deadpool #2 of 3 Fear Itself FF #1 (this was an accident, I don't like FF) Herc Fear Itself #5 Avengers Academy Fear Itself #16 Fear Itself Fearsome Four #2 of 4 Hulk Fear Itself #37
DC: War of the Green Lanterns Aftermath #1
Other: Walking Dead #87 DUKE NUKEM GLORIOUS BASTARD #1
they had big ads on the back of a lot of Image books for Invincible and I got all excited because diamond packed them upside down so I opened it and was like WHOA NEW INVINCIBLE but it wasnt
The Avengers issue this month is so Bendis-y. Still sticking with the interview tapes but it could be like 3x shorter if he cut out his Bendis Fluff
Steve Rogers: Spider-Woman is trained in espionage and seduction Spider-Woman: I'm really good at espionage and seduction.
thanks for that bendis
he's lucky the art is really good. it's that guy Bachalo we were complaining about last topic. The hit or miss guy with the crazy style. He's pretty spot-on here because he can draw some beautiful things if he isn't drawing those chaotic scenes of wtf
it is really bad, they just got to the action sequence of Protector/Ms. Marvel/Spider-Woman going to Brazil to fight THE HULK (why did steve think sending Spider-Woman was a good idea) and I was so bored by the 500 panels of redundant dialogue that I just don't feel like reading it anymore
not to mention Bachalo's art because meeeeeh when he starts drawing action and stuff. It comes out weird.
eh, I never really liked Ultimate Spider-Man much. I think it was more the art than anything, I've always hated it.
But it is different, yeah
Just read Avengers Academy. It had this incredibly ridiculously dumb moment
*spoilers*
Pym is fighting Absorbing Man at giant size, and realizes he can't win because he can't shrink Gods, and he had to get him out of there. So he lifted up an evacuated building and put it on top of two other buildings to make a "door." Then he contacted Jocasta and made it into a dimensional door. A giant dimensional door made of empty skyscrapers.
What the hell
and Creel FELL FOR IT. He fell into the door and then got Titana to "kiss" him (by bumping their hammers together; it looked stupid because creel was still big and titana was still tiny)
also a touching moment of veil saving a little girl's mother, only to have the mom get shot by a red skull walker thing as soon as they were reunited. the hell? that was depressing, thanks comic
Spider-Woman and Hawkeye finally start going out in the most Bendis-y way. Hulk is about to step on both of them and Hawkeye just goes "I love you." Then Protector saves them. Cue awkward moment.
It was kinda sweet. A bit forced though, I believe their relationship was kicked off like... last issue. I think Wolverine has flirted with Spider-Woman way more than Hawkeye. Hasn't Hawkeye never even talked to her? I get that he just got out of his relationship for Bobbi and might be looking for a rebound, but Clint seems like more of a guy who would be single and sleep around a bit to cope rather than pick a random teammate he never even talked to and fall madly in love with her in like a day.
And he is madly in love with her, or so he says in the interviews and stuff. Unless he's pretending or something, but I don't think he would.
random little side story of Ultimate Rogue in a diner crying about Peter being dead. The hell? Did they have a relationship I missed?
She was wearing fingerless gloves like an idiot then accidentally touched a waitress, who like freaks out. She runs away and flashes back to all the dead Ultimate characters. The are a lot. She then goes to a church and prays.
Kinda weird... What did Rogue have to do with Spider-Man dying again?
From: ZenOfThunder | #126 Iron Man was really good this week
I missed drunk Tony, and apparently he did too
Is Fraction still writing it? Because I have not been enjoying him on Iron Man. Then again, it's probably just because Tony Stark is really lame nowadays.

yeah he's still doing Iron Man. I really haven't been feeling it much, I kept up until he got to the DETROIT STEEL arc which I didn't like so I dropped it. Then i read the Doc Ock arc and it was alright (went on too long) and Tony's fight with the Grey Gargoyle was really entertaining and this one was great.
*spoilers*
Odin takes Tony to a dwarven forge, and he gets drunk with them and makes lots of weapons
the side stories were boring though, stop giving so much page time to Pepper and friends, nobody cares
From: ZenOfThunder | #131 the side stories were boring though, stop giving so much page time to Pepper and friends, nobody cares
Oh yeah, definitely. This was a problem I really had, as well as Fraction focusing too much on Tony and not enough on Iron Man. This is actually one of the problems I have with Marvel overall, I don't care as much about secret identities as I do the superhero. If I wanted regular people doing regular things, I would join reality. I don't want that though. I want superheroes doing superhero things. Which is why DC is superior.
Back to Iron Man though, he's been really boring ever since he deleted his memories. The only time I've enjoyed him since was in the Carnage mini, where he was actually a badass again.

A graphic novel set that will attempt to apply a modern twist on the origins and base stories that inspired these characters.
Not to be confused with the (dying) Ultimate Universe and a (more ambitious) version of DC's (essentially dumped) Earth One project.
Fantastic Four: Season One is dated for February and X-Men: Season One is dated for March. Daredevil is hinted at, and it's implied that they want to get most of the major characters out of the way next year for the '50th anniversary', so we can expect a Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, Avengers, Captain America, and Iron Man in the next 24 months as well.
THIS ISSUE WAS AWFUL. Like, you know how a lot of fear itself tie ins are talk talk talk and no action? This one was ALL ACTION. If you've read FF you'd know it's all like talk talk talk, and ironically it's the only Fear Itself tie-in that's all action, and it just doesn't work.
Also, Ben SLAPS Alicia into a pole pretty hard, then Susie gives her some chest compressions (?) and she turns out fine! like nothing seems wrong with her
also Ben seems different from the other chosen. it's just scared ben and those weird mouth slugs on him talk him into doing mean things, which is cool
Herc was alright. I never know what the hell is going on in it, though. Pak/Van Lente books tend to confuse me but eventually I figure it out and really enjoy it.
*spoilers*
This issue didn't really go anywhere but establish that Zeus's God roundtable has also decided not to help with Fear Itself, just like Odin. Zeus invites Herc to be a God again but Herc says no as he wishes to help Earth.
