Round 3 - Battle Royale Round

Gonna try something a little different here. Could be the downfall of the entire contest, but we'll see.

In Round 2, the top 4 % winners will not need to participate in Round 3.

This means there will be 36 entrants in Round 3.

I will be splitting these 36 in to 4 divisions of 9 determined randomly by random.org.

In each division you will be voting for 2 games you do NOT want to progress.

Once a game gets 5 votes, it will be eliminated from the competition.

Once 4 remain from the division, the day will end.

In the case of a tiebreaker, the division will continue until one of the two in the tiebreaker get eliminated.

This will then leave us with 16, plus the 4 highest % winners from Round 2, totalling 20 games left for Round 4.

Not sure how i'm going to do Round 4 yet, but ideally want to be left with 8 for just a straight knockout in Round 5.

I don't like that Round 3 idea. Generally an anti-vote format gets messy and does not give a credible result (people just want to eliminate the big challengers and game with small fanbase can squeak through because no one literally cares enough to anti-vote the game). In your proposed format, not only does the vote requirement to out a game is so low, you don't even allow positive voting! (100% sure FF10 will be out if it doesn't get a bye). So yeah, I think you can tweak the format a bit, so instead of voting to out a game, you're voting to "save" a game. When 4 games are saved, the remaining games in that division are eliminated.

but anyway, do whatever you think is best for the purpose of your contest!

Anti-voting is only worthwhile in formats where every voter has an informed opinion about every entrant (so it's good when voting on, say, characters in Friends, but bad when voting on a group of 40 video games).

Oh well my interest in SotC and Ico dropped due to the games looking closest to a Zelda game out of what I've played (not a good thing for me since the only two games in that series I'm a big fan of are A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker, lol), while I would very much like to try out more 3D platformers since I'm a big fan of Super Mario 64 and an even bigger fan of both Mario Galaxies.
