While I love my cats (awww, look at 'em! So cute!) I have to give a tip of my hat to dogs for a few reasons. First off, dogs are smarter... I think. They may not be smarter, but at least you can tell what they're thinking just by looking at them. With cats you have to guess what they're thinking and even then it's a futile exercise. Secondly, dogs don't **** and piss in your ****ing house. Lastly, dogs are a great social asset. I can't tell you how many people come up to me when I'm walking my neighbor's dogs. They're great conversation starters and if you have one of the good ones you can go running with it, too.

Cats have their pros as well, of course. They're much easier to maintain and take care of since they are pretty much self-sufficient. They're much quieter and hardly ever bother you for anything. They are, 100% of the time, cuter than a dog. Like I said they have their pros, but look at how much bigger the dog paragraph is than this cat paragraph! Even if you count this sentence and the one after it the dog one is still noticeably larger. Noticeably.

They would if you didn't let them out.

Cats can go to the bathroom by themselves. They win.

Well, it doesn't stink up your place.

Anyhow, what got me thinking about this is this infographic about dog owners v. cat owners. It doesn't necessarily make either side out to be better than the other, but I personally like the traits given to the dog owners side more. The cat owners side makes people seem like shut-in housemarms who spend all day checking out tech sites.

Even as a cat person I have to respect dogs as being pretty good. I mean, they annoy the crap out of me but they're affectionate, you can train them, you can take them for walks... I can see why people like them.

Dogs are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more affectionate than cats. If you ignore your dog, it'll be sad and lonely. If you ignore your cat, it doesn't care at all. I had tons of cats growing up and never really cared for them, and then recently we had a dog, he died at 4-years old and I was probably sadder than I've ever been in my life. He was affectione, social(maybe a bit too much), very well trained in ways of pissing and ****ting, and just the best pet ever. Dogs > cats all the way.

And on account of cuteness, LOL. Puppies > cats always.

So being needy is a positive trait eh? If only dogs didn't have to rely on being pathetic to garner attention. But then if dogs could do that, they would be cats :3

Dogs are

- big
- loud
- ugly
- smelly
- high maintenance
- mouth breathers

They also bark on me when I ride my bike. What's up with that. I don't an animal that starts waking the dead every time someone passes by.

-They don't bark
-They don't jump on you
-They can amuse themselves with string and paper and laser pointers
-They purr
-They do parkour in your house
-They eat bugs
-Their tails are long and silky
-Their ears swivel around like radar

More like dogs are like slaves eager to please their master so that they avoid punishment while cats coexist harmoniously with humanity trading purrs and cuteness for food.

No, I was definitely right the first time.

And swivel ears suck compared to dem floppy ears.

You are indeed right. Cats really are just humans in cat form and dogs really are just vapid attention whores! I am glad we can agree!

But I really must contest you on the important issue of swivel ears vs floppy ears. You see, floppy ears are just too floppy and unpettable. Kitty ears are just brimming with body language and invite much rubbing.

I'd rather have a vapid attention whore than something that doesn't care at all about me, and would bolt to the next house with free food given the opportunity!

Floppy ears are the cutest. There is no disputing this.

By the way, if you were forced to choose between tea and a cat, and you couldn't have the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose? Serious question.

Well damn...that is a fine dilemma you propose. On the one hand, a cat can be replaced with another cat, but forgoing tea is just neigh sacrilege. Unless you mean to say the choice is between tea or cats. If it is cat specific, I choose tea. If it is all cats, then I chose cats.

Clearly I would then need to create a loophole by genetically crossbreeding a cat with the tea plant...

First off, dogs are smarter... I think. They may not be smarter, but at least you can tell what they're thinking just by looking at them.

Yeah that indicates that they're stupid. They have a small amount of thought processes. While cats have tons. So cats are obviously smarter.

I honestly can't stand dogs much at all, I have an Alaskan Husky and a miniature Husky, and I love them, they're great dogs. They're about the only dogs I love though. It helps that their barking isn't too often, and it's not too annoying either like most dogs. Still, I prefer no barking. And they ALWAYS want god damn attention, I don't feel like sitting there and petting them all day.

People saying that cats don't care about you obviously don't know anything about cats. I have two, and they're both laying right here with me right now. My one cat is actually an attention whore, he loves getting pets, even long after I fed him, he still sticks to me and wants attention. However, while they like attention, they don't NEED it to be happy. They don't give a f***, and that's what I prefer. Friends that need your constant attention and approval are the worst.

Oh and cats are always cuter. Dogs are often ugly, they're slobbery, they stink, you have to bathe them yourself, they're jumpy, clumsy, stupid. Cats are cute, even fat lazy cats are cute in a funny way, they're litter box only stinks if you let it go for too long, they clean themselves, they're not jumping all over you begging for attention when you walk in the door, they're very balanced, and while they're not actually smart, they still show more brain activity than dogs.
