VNs, that is.

#10: Cross+Channel

I would put a quote here, but I don't remember any good ones from this.

Anyway, here's the first, about a bunch of unstable kids at school after the rest of the world vanishes. They're better behaved than in Lord of the Flies for some reason. Definitely, Taichi makes this VN. It's amazing how he can be simultaneously likeable, sympathetic, and oh god creepy. He's a really interesting character. Miki was also very likeable. Other routes weren't so good, though, like the EAT THE DAMN FOOD ALREADY route. Still, a good VN with a really memorable ending.

#9: Remember11: the age of infinity

The story has not finished yet. Truth is not revealed. And it circulates through an incident. It is an infinity loop!

An entry in the Infinity series about two people in very different circumstances who inexplicably keep body-switching. This one has some likeable characters, but nthing special. However, the plot is really strange and interesting, with some actually well-thought-out quantum physics. It loses points because of dat inconclusive ending. The plot is a real mindscrew, seriously. It's definitely creative enough to earn this spot.

#8: Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni

Because Oyashiro-sama 'exists'.

The first When They Cry VN, with a focus towards comedy and horror. The VN definitely has an edge on the anime, what with more entertaining club activities and a far more enjoyable Tatarigoroshi. For some reason it's still not enough to encourage me to read Kai, though. Higurashi has a bunch of good characters, especially Rika, who's high up on my list of favorites. It has awful art, but the PS2 patch helps a lot.

#7: Kanon

It's called a miracle because it doesn't happen.

Ah, KEY, how I love you, yet hate you for being so damn sad. I liked most of the heroines here a lot, particularly the cool Mai. However, I really disliked Nayuki and her route. Given that it was the first route I did, I nearly ended up dropping it. Fortunately, the others are much better. Only one route was really sad, but it definitely was. Kanon has the plus of good music (not so good that I'm pleased at KyoAni's unoriginality) but the VN art is kind of off IMO. A good VN if you're okay with the KEY drama.

#6: G-Senjou no Maou

...Usami bin Laden. Oops, a pun.

I love Haru so much. She's tied for my favorite VN character. And as long as G-Sen is on the main route, it's excellent, and very exciting. Unfortunately, the side routes and their heroines pale in comparison. Particularly Kanon, who's an awful character with an awful route. Also, the VN has a couple of nasty plotholes. The plot is cool enough that you won't notice until afterwards, though. Also, it has an awesome soundtrack. It's a great VN with bonus points if you ignore the side routes and go straight for the gold.

#5: Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo

There is no such thing as society.

Like G-Senjou, it's by Akabeisoft2, and it has a lot of similar characters. However, Sharin's are executed much better. Kenichi is a fun MC, Houzuki is a cool villain, Touka is a likeable tsundere for once... I don't like Natsumi much, but she's the only weak point. The story is less exciting, but I think it's much more interesting. It has a really great fandisk about Houzuki that really ties the story together, too. The first in my top 5, and it definitely deserves it.

#4: Umineko No Naku Koro Ni

My name is Willard H. Wright, this will be the last time I draw my sword!

The better When They Cry VN, and a very clever VN with very awesome arguments combined with awesome fantasy scenes and awesome characters. It's definitely very, very engaging... sometimes. Unfortunately, the pacing has some flaws, particularly in EP4. EP5 is my favorite episode, overall, with Beato as my favorite character. Of course, can't go mentioning Umineko without bringing up the huge and epic soundtrack. An excellent VN, and please, Witch-Hunt, finish it already.

#3: Muv-Luv Alternative

No good quotes for this one either.

A really awesome mecha, about the main character's struggle to save Earth from aliens. The side characters are okay, but it really shines with its MC, a very well-developed character indeed. Most of the VN is about his character development. I also really like the graphics, what with the plethora of fully animated scenes and cool mecha- battle scenes. Both the 18+ and all-ages versions have kickass JAM Project OPs that I really love. The only real flaw with it is the somewhat weaker ending. Definitely a high-energy VN worthy of the top 3.

#2: Clannad

Day before yesterday I saw a rabbit, yesterday a deer, and today, you.

This thing is long as hell, and I loved every minute of it. It occupied me quite a while this boring summer. It has the major plus that I actually didn't dislike any characters at all, and several of them were very good. Kotomi ties with Haru as ny favorite VN character. Of course, some parts were very sad, but it had a satisfying ending in my eyes. And all the main routes were excellent. An amazing VN for sure; I highly recommend it to anyone with the free time to check it out.

#1: Ever17: the out of infinity

... Who am I? ... Who are you?

The best VN period. Even on my recent reread, it was just great. It has an interesting plot, very likeable characters, and the coolest and best-executed resolution possible. If you like VNs, you have to read it. That's all I have to say.

It's been a bit since I played either, and I don't have my comp to look for one.

I like the Sharin quote even if isn't directly fron Sharin, though.

It's kinda spoilers, but spoilers that most people know before playing it. It's about as big a spoiler as saying that Higurashi has murders in it.

Anyway not playing Higurashi Kai whaaat you are terrible.
