Lebron James, Katy Perry, and the guy who calls the strings at Electronic Arts are evil creatures delivered by the dark lord of the underworld. They are ruining the planet as we speak, and we must make sure that Lebron, Katy, and EA Sports guy never gets appreciation in the future.

Oh, and Michelle Bachman is absolutely terrible, and I bet the Everything Snob person probably disagrees with that, even if he hates him. There will be anarchy if she even touches the White House...not the white house across from your house...but THE White House.

And more importantly, I listen to this band called Soundgarden...there's no way hipsters like it.. Hate hipsters, they're evil spawns of another dark overlord known as Forkpitch.

So this title will always belong to me...and I will keep this title during the next 5 minute period and onwards.

i used to have sympathy for maplejet

i always thought ulti was a little too harsh on him

but holy **** this and the last topic have blown that away. I thought Heroic Mass Carrier was Ulti's alt at first, and that made the topic ok, if mean-spirited. Than i realized it was actually maplejet and was just.. wow.

so far I everything you've said I either agree with or don't care enough to have an opinion about, so you're in good shape. Lebron sucks. I don't care about Katy Perry or EA sports. Michelle Bachman I know almost nothing about but iirc she's a religious conservative and therefore a worthless c***. Don't know who Everything Snob is. I don't care about Soundgarden one way or another but Chris Cornell is pretty good and I like most of what Ive heard of Audioslave. Hipsters are kinda lame but I don't care enough about them to have a strong opinion and I don't know what Forkpitch is. Ke$ha is worthless and Fred Durst is a joke. Don't care about Chris Bosh. Don't know who Gary Bettman is... So yeah. Overall, +respect for maplejet for sure...

Y'know, I used to take your attitude in situations like this. Whenever I saw a fight or an argument or somebody getting made fun of, I'd automatically ask why people were being so mean or why they couldn't just get along, and that inherently the people who were being victimized were the ones that should be pitied.

Then I realized I was wrong, and here is why I think you are wrong in this scenario.

There are two underlying assumptions you're making. The first is that "being nice" to somebody means not pointing out their flaws or outright expressing displeasure with anything they do. I used to do this all the time: when somebody would do something that pissed me off, I would shrug it off and not bring it up, because it's “not nice” to start arguments. But there's more than one way to be nice, and in fact there are more constructive and realistic (and, indeed, healthy) ways to treat people well than just pretend like conflict doesn't and shouldn't exist.

The second assumption you're making is that everyone deserves the same treatment. I'm a firm believer that you treat everybody well at first, but if they screw it up, you act accordingly. You're a relatively new guy to the board; maybe you've never clicked on a maplejet topic before, saw all the bashing here, and immediately assumed the board was ganging up on this guy for no reason. Nope, not quite the case – when you've repeatedly shown your true colors to people, why bother humoring them with the time of day? B8 is filled with people like this. Look at the LinkMarioSamus topic. Do you honestly think the board should be nice to this guy, given all the evidence presented there?

So forgive me if I get offended that you're attempting to take the moral high ground and say that we should "be more supportive" in topics like this, especially given that other boards on this site could really stand to take a lesson from us in the matter IMO.

You're making assumptions about me, in this case.

Your first assumption of what I'm assuming is a little odd. First of all, yes. I do believe that people should treat each other with respect, regardless of whatever idiocy has occurred. Pointing out flaws is one thing, wasting your energy bashing someone is another, and that is never necessary. I realize that it's possible that this is all "good Board 8 fun," but I still can help but comment on it. I don't like seeing people getting ganged up on.

However, I don't believe I need to lambaste them if they are idiots. In that scenario, I generally try to present a level-headed critique of their actions. And, seeing as I have only been here for about a year, why don't you let me in on why Maplejet deserves this treatment? I have clicked on several "Maplejet-is-mad-@-Ulti" topics and I can tell that something happened to make people hate this guy. I don't know what it is. Until I do, I cannot make an accurate judgement of your character. But, unless it was something unspeakably awful, I am confident that everyone is exaggerating.

Now, that being said, I didn't mean to offend you by "taking the moral high ground." In fact, I think you give me too much credit. My posts were just sarcastic jokes aimed at diffusing the tension.
