The game was PS1, never distributed out of japan as far as I know
The vast majority of the graphics in the game were hand crudely hand drawn, like scribblenauts but a bit less refined
The multiplayer(which is the whole draw of the game as far as I know but there may be SP) was a giant free for all that supported up to four players(at least I don't remember it being one of the PS1 games that did more).

No, it's more brawler-ish, mostly using items you pick up. There is no split screen or anything. Think like how Powerstone's gameplay is handled, but just with items(I believe, I can't remember getting skills)

Nope; similar gameplay, but the graphics are much more on the hand-drawn side, and as far as I remember, there's just one enviroment(a flat area) and weapons such as bombs, rockets, lasers, etc etc

not many PS1 era games even supported more than 2 players at once. The list of games shouldn't be that long if you can narrow it by 4 player PS1 games?

That's what I'm trying now
Believe it or not, I've played one that supported 8 players for an optional mode.
