This is my second time through the game, and I like it a lot less than before. It has nothing to do with combat. Combat is fine. What I don't like is the illusion of branched paths and various options. Why does the game even ask me a question if I get the same answer regardless of what I select? I don't want Midori in my party, so I say "You? No way." And we take her along with us anyway. The only real choices are made towards the end of the game.

Like, i get an email telling me about a certain event, and I purposely try to miss it, only to find out that it's my only option available, even 1 hour after the supposed event is supposed to occur.
For instance, "This many people will die at 14:00, and this location." So at 15:00, why is it the only option to progress the story? Not just that, I get the same outcome had I chosen to show up on time.

It tends to be like that earlier on, but starting on... Day 5, I think, major characters start dying off if you aren't in a certain place at a certain time. Some stuff is still unavoidable, but something like... 3 potential party members can and will die if you aren't on time to bail them out.
