Eh, I'm not a huge fan of 1 and 2 is terrible.

DMC3 is the holy grail, though.

DMC4 is also decent. Second best in the series.

I remember buying the DMC Collection a while back, playing 1 and thinking "alright, that wasn't bad."

Then I played 3 and was absolutely blown away.

Is DMC3 like DMC1 in that you only have 3 lives and when you lose all your lives, you have to start the whole chapter over?

Because if so, then it's probably not for me.

You can choose between that or being able to Continue endlessly at the start of a new game.

Basic DMC3 has this, but you can buy yellow orbs to get more "lives"

DMC3 SE has a mode that actually removes the yellow orb item and just gives you infinite lives

So yeah try DMC3 SE

and I still can't recall the story at all. I think I just blocked it out. All i remember is fighting a skyscraper and Dante jumping in a portal to Hell at the end

If you ever pick up DMC3, you definitely want to get the special edition. For some reason, normal mode of the original was Japan's hard mode.

SE has an easier normal mode, the edition of Vergil, and some other cool extras. You also get the same DMD mode. There's no reason to get the original DMC3 over SE. Actually, you probably can't even find the original anymore.

Well, I never beat DMC1 because of the lives thing.

I got to that first fight against whatever the guy is called who's actually Vergil and could never beat it, so yeah.

Some of Trish's moves from DMC2 is part of her moveset in MvC3. Through granted that's pretty much the only place they could have gotten source material for Trish.

Capcom still acknowledges it exists, unknown if they still consider it canon through.

they are kind of lame. really cheesy, I guess for some people that's the charm.

I played and beat 1&3, but they're really not anything special IMO.

Something is telling me to get around to the Devil May Cry franchise after my hopeful Metal Gear Solid tour is over. Maybe I could even bunch it up with Final Fantasies VIII-X, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Metroid, and A Link to the Past and turn it into "The Real Truth special"?

I like cheesy dialogue, as my recent blind playthrough of Resident Evil 4 proved.
