Okay so Im playing Phantasy Star IV right now and i'm craving more sweet 90's jrpg action.

I've never played Chrono Trigger, don't know much about the game except that it's held in really high regard by old school rpg fans.

I know it's coming to PSN sometime this year. Has an exact date been announced for that yet?

Also is this a time travel story?

Don't think a date's been set, but yeah, it's about time travel.

I don't know if I can wait for the PSN version. I'll probably try to find a hard copy starting tomorrow.

Oh this is my 4th playthrough of Phantasy Star IV.

It's one of my favorites. I miss the genre in general though.

Does it matter if you've played PS1-3 before you play PS4? I've always been kinda interested in that one, but from my brief experiences with the earlier titles I don't really like them that much. I already have it, from the Genesis Collection on PSP, but I've never actually tried it out.

I played CT for the first time in the last few months and it immediately became my favorite game of all time (although not specifically the DS version I played).

It's on Virtual Console now too, but I guess if you don't have a Wii you're kinda stuck waiting for the PSN version. Oh well.

Phantasy Star IV was the first one with real character development.

Also the grinding in the first and second games got kind of ridiculous.

Some of the dungeons in the 2nd one are a nightmare without a map.

Lucked out. Book and Music exchange where I live has 3 copies of Final Fantasy Chronicles so I won't have to wait for the PSN version.

I'd rather have a hard copy anyways.

Yeah that is definitely the worst version of the game you can possibly get. Do yourself a favor and avoid it.

If you do decide to play through the game with that version just try not to hold the godawful load times against it. Literally every other version did away with them, including of course the original for SNES.

Long load times have never really bothered me that much but If it gets too bad I may go buy the SNES version.

I don't have a super nintendo anymore but book and music exchange had a few of them as well as the twin fam console and also a few copies of chrono trigger when I picked up chronicles earlier.

I wouldn't mind having the console anyways. That place had a monster library of NES and SNES games too. Hundreds.
