If anyone is an expert on products no one wants, it's Heavy Iron Studios.

It baffles me that people are so worried about the future of handheld gaming. This generation of handhelds is more or less starting out a lot like the last, and yet there's a lot more doom and gloom this time around.

Simply put: if smart phones ever do replace handheld gaming systems, it won't be any time soon.

Though I will say that the Vita shouldn't be launching at $299. That is a pretty high price tag.

Oh, really? Heavy Iron said it was launching at $299. Guess that's further proof that they don't know what they're talking about. :P

$250 is going to be a tough sell too, though. All things considered, I actually think that's a solid value for the technology the Vita's packing - but most people are going to look at it, think "A handheld for $250?!?" and walk away. People hate paying serious money for portable systems; people even thought the DS was overpriced at $150 back in 2004.

Add a phone to the Vita and that solves their complaints, it seems like.

There will be two versions.

$299 with 3G, and $250 with just regular wifi.

I prefer the 250 one honestly.

I've yet to see a single game on the Vita that interests me. I have a feeling it will be in the same boat the PSP was: no games of interest for the first 2 years, then suddenly a good number of them pop up.
