I may have to hook my playstation up to a standard definition tv for this one. I forgot how bad hi def tv's make older games look.

The menu delay is kind of annoying but Ill get used to it.

I wish It hadn't started with mini games. I'm already hooked on trying to guess the winner of the race.

The Millenium Festival is like a mini gold saucer.

About an hour in and i'm still messing around at the milennium festival. Really haven't accomplished much besides winning some kind of dolls that are aoparently useless, reuniting a kid with her cat, picking up a second party member and battling a robot.

Guess I'll move on now. Im ready to do some fighting.

Still getting used to the battle system but dispatched the 1st boss fairly easily.

Feels like a lot of the ground work for FFVII may have been laid with this game. Lots of similarities.

It's not bad so far. My biggest complaint is how they're all so unphased by being randomly sent back in time. I would think that if teleportation were a new an amazing concept to them than so would be time travel.

I've always held to the belief that the first couple of hours are the worst overall plot-wise. There are a few cool things (and one very entertaining little minigame that pops up) but things like Crono, Marle and Ayla being so relatively unfazed and not really saying anything particularly interesting always gets to me.

Things get better not too far in!

Playing again. This is really the first chance I'll have to play for extended time since I started.


I'm glad they're finally acknowledging that they just got sent back in time. Still handling it much better than i would have. First thing i would have been doing is looking for a change of underwear.

Also, should i have put a spoiler tag on this or is it just assumed there will be spoilers in a playthrough topic?

Hmm, I wouldn't worry too much. I'd say it's kind of a given.

It's nice to have the option to avoid a lot of small fights on the way to an objective. However, I'm still fighting every battle I can.

This kind of makes me want to play through FFVII again.

Its really disappointing that this genre of games is Virtually dead. The addition of voice acting alone could have added so much. That's one of the few things i actually liked about FFX and X-2.

There's very little I like about X-2 but I agree with you on X. It is a damn shame the genre is dying but there are still a few decent ones.

And my tv just exploded. Literally. The lamp just popped. I've had to replace the lamp once before but it didn't just explode. Just stopped working. And this lamp is barely a year old.


Man I hope it didn't ruin the tv.

Got the tv in 2007. I'll probably just buy a new one soon. Replacement lamps are 150$. The tvs probably not even worth that much now.

What kind of TV is it? What brand, so forth? I'm becoming something of a broken record on this but look into buying a Sony Trinitron if you're going after another SDTV. It's a brick but it delivers some of the best picture across all standard-definition devices, it really does.

Hook any SNES/Genesis/PS1/N64/PS2/GC/Xbox game up to that thing with a component cable and it's stunning.

Mitsubishi. 57" DLP projection. I've got another pretty good sd tv. I mean it's nothing special but it is decent size at 32". I was using it in my bedroom. I'll probably just hook my playstation up in there until I can buy a new HD tv.

Won't be buying another Mitsubishi that's for sure. Probably should have known better to begin with but it was cheap at the time.

Yeah, I'm not sure Mitsubishi is so hot for televisions... even back then when there seemed to be a bit more competition from mega-companies and such.

Also I had just entered the lab 16 area when I went out but I'll be starting from wherever I last saved. Which was somewhere during the castle escape in 1000 ad.
