Turns out I had to do it from the Canadian side, anyway! On the plus side, it instantly works. On the downside, you pay full price but get refunded the discount on Monday. They still have the 32 GB model in stock, if any Canadians and/or people willing to pretend to be Canadian read this.

by the way, amazon is officially matching it now, but are also OOS. solution there was buy it -> they refund after a customer service call. was an expected turn of events, but something you had to plan for in the first place.

but yes, you can still get this through small business if you're lucky. though how THAT still has stock is beyond me. there's also the fact that as expected, it's also now on ebay by the thousands and the price has gone down to $120~ in some cases, shipped, for the 16GB model. which after transaction fees and the like, uh.... is like, 10 bucks profit. >___>;

there's a glitch in the system for Small Business that doesn't tell you it's out of stock.

so a lot of people are gonna get refunds and get pissed. there's a dude with some 7000 that is selling them on ebay cheap. that's your best bet quite frankly, and after tax, is only $10-$15 more than it would've been anyway.

to you others, remember that webos actually isn't half bad. in fact it's a 2 minute google check to see why this tablet's not as fast as the others or whatever:

it's literally logging everything in the background and is bottling you down because it's basically running a couple processes double. there is absolutely nothing wrong with it spec-wise so really it comes down to the software - what it's doing, how it's running. and verdict seems to be that once you pimp it up right, it's better than a lot.

having done the patches alone, no overclocking at all yet (which is safe to do if you go for 1.5):

this thing is every bit as fast and as good as what you'll find out there. the browser is fine, it's fast, flash support is there. no it doesn't play hulu immediately out the box, but it's an EASY fix to make it do that. same with speeding it up. you take one hour out of your day, fix the tablet to a proper level, and bam. its value just quadrupled because its speed now is competitive.

sweet, so i won't be the only one.
for an update:

snes runs quite well on it. but don't play fighters. i wouldn't even recommend playing side scrollers, but at least that's doable. rpgs are lol on this.

in terms of video playback, it plays avis AND mkvs. it plays 720p vids. it does not like mkv subtitles yet.
