Devil May Cry 4. It's actually a really good game. They got kind of lazy with the level design (you play through the same levels twice, basically), but the combat system still kicks ass. It's a great game.

Yeah, this is how I feel. AC1 is decent, but it gets really repetitive. Playing it will make you appreciate the sequels more.

I like to play a series in order anyway (though I flat out skipped DMC2) so I'll play AC1 regardless. I started DMC4 a few weeks ago but being Not-Dante-But-Wants-To-Be annoyed me.

DMC4 is very fun, actually. The combat system is great, and I liked Nero's mechanics. The Devil Bringer is pretty fun to use.

I say you play both, actually, and switch off if you get bored of one. They're so vastly different in gameplay styles that it should keep you entertained. Though if you're picking just one I do still suggest AC1, if only to get you to the awesome that is AC2 faster.

I'm actually playing Fallout 3 right now as well, so I was basically looking for a changeup game. I'll probably end up doing DMC4 so that by the time I start going through the AC series there may be a price drop on some of the others.
