I bought the 6th season pass of Futurama. And instead of giving all 26 episodes, they gave me 13 and put the other half in another season section calling it a new season.
On June 10, 2009, Fox announced that up to twenty-six new episodes will be produced for Comedy Central.[18] Thirteen of these episodes (known as "Season 6-A",[15]) ending with "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular", were broadcast during 2010 and comprise the seventh broadcast season and fifth DVD/Blu-Ray box set.[19] The remaining thirteen episodes, (known as "Season 6-B") began airing on June 23, 2011.[20] These episodes comprise the eighth broadcast season and sixth DVD/Blu-Ray box set. Unlike broadcast seasons 6 and 7 (the DVD movies and Season 6-A), broadcast season 8 (Season 6-B) was aired out of production order. The list below is provided in production order.
It's silly rationale but there it is. 6A and 6B.
It's like apartment numbers. Jesus.

From: neonreaper | #009 ah so it's just Futurama doing the BSG half-season thing?
BSG isn't even alone. That became something of a SyFy mandate for its more recent shows and I've heard of other networks' shows following suit disgustingly enough.

The only other show i know that's doing it is doctor who. I think futurama is doing it because comedy central wants cheap, new content for the summer months.

For some unknown reason, I did this for Lost Season 6. Well, that was an awful idea. Took forever to download. Not good quality. Plus it was Lost Season 6.
