Board 8 > Best bet for replacing/repairing a DS Lite?

New models remove GBA compatibility, which is lame, so I could use a fully-working DS Lite. But new DS Lites aren't being made, and I'm hesitant to get a refurbished handheld when the precise problem I had was button failure. Nintendo repair fees are nuts and take weeks.

Apparently I can buy one from Nintendo directly. Seems like the best choice. Wait, no. :(

You could get a DSi XL and a Game Boy Micro. Those are probably the two best devices to play those games. All you lose out on is GBA Dongle Mode which is only important for Pokemon transfers, and it sounds like your DS Lite is still working good enough for that.

That's not a bad idea, but it seems like you can still get a Lite from Target for cheaper. Maybe. Although the big screen is nice. But I'm not buying one for the same price as a 3DS.
