Welp, I’ve finished the episode, and all the extra stuff associated with it. I was shocked at how short the episode ended up being. Not that that’s really a bad thing, Episode 4 is proof enough that longer doesn’t equal better. And this episode just had so much stuff that happened in it, there was a ton of development and a healthy share of brain-wracking puzzles packed into what I imagine is the shortest segment yet in Umineko.

I’m not gonna really bother analyzing things too much, because frankly I was pretty stumped throughout the trial sequence. I definitely considered the idea that Battler killed them, but I forsook that when it was revealed that Erika creeped on him the entire night. And throughout most of the episode, I never really seriously considered Battler as the culprit because for some reason I misremembered the red text given at the start of the episode, that Battler wasn’t the culprit in the first four episode. That, combined with some intrinsic thought that since Battler is the main character combined with Knox’s law made me think it was impossible, despite it being made pretty damn clear he wasn’t the detective in this episode.

There are only two arguments I would’ve pursued during that trial that Battler didn’t. When he claimed that maybe they committed suicide, and it was refuted with the red statement that all the deaths were homicides, I thought he should’ve tried to argue that perhaps Rosa tried killing everyone in the room, and that George or someone woke up and in self-defense managed to inflict an identical grievous wound on her. Absurd, and almost sure to be shot down, but he could’ve tried it.

The second argument is a bit more compelling, I think. Erika seemed to have such a habit of putting up those little door detecting thingies that I think Battler should’ve proclaimed in blue something that would force Erika to admit whether or not she put one on the cousins’ door. And if she did, she would surely know if it was broken in the time between when she left the cousins’ room and when she went upstairs with Battler at 3 AM. Though in the spirit of dicking Battler over I’m sure she didn’t put one on.

Moving on to the kickass ????, wasn’t that kickass? I have no idea what gold truth is, but Battler can apparently use it without breaking Knox’s laws. And I’m really curious about his role in this next episode. It seems like he wants to get Beatrice back, if that’s at all possible. So will he be arguing for a culprit other than Natsuhi, creating an uncertainty in the verdict and the possibility for a witch to exist, or will he go full boar and try to make Erika admit that only a witch could cause the murders in the sixth episode? That would be one hell of a heel turn, temporary as it may be.

Well then! Let’s get started with this next episode!

Are Alliance, Banquet, and End of the Golden Witch names of previous episodes? If so, which do they pertain to? I think End is the fifth, and I imagine Banquet is second, but I just wanna get my facts straight.

Actually reading a bit further it seems Banquet pertains to the third episode.

Ok if I recall correctly the first two letter bottles were deemed authentically written by Maria. So this Featherbottom or whatever observed the next three and wrote them down. Makes sense, and it's interesting that Ange will be back in the fold. I wonder how her observer role will play out. Will she be an actual character on the game board akin to Erika? Or will she be all meta like Battler? And will Battler be aware of her presence if she is meta?

Nope, they're deemed written by whoever signed 'Beatrice' in Maria's diary. And Featherine only wrote 3, 4, 5, and now 6.

Also Ep5 is longer than 1, 2, and 3.

EDIT: Also, I would HIGHLY suggest making one last attempt to solve Umineko before finishing Episode 6, as Episode 6 is probably the most common Episode for one to just kind of 'get the answer' while reading... followed closely by Episode 7.

Huh, ok. I already have some vague ideas in my head. I'm not any closer to solving the riddle, and I really don't remember previous episodes well enough to explain the 'how dunnit it' but I've got some principal suspects.
