Board 8 > Who else is hyped for the new Spider-Man movie out next year?

I was just thinking about this and I suddenly got really hyped. The Amazing Spider-Man is going to be one of the bigger summer blockbusters next year and the trailer got me really pumped for it.

I read the comics every now and then, was a big fan of the 90s show and the first two movies. We should have more Spidey topics, he is awesome.

i feel it's too early to reboot this series... spiderman 2 was amazing and my favorite superhero movie to date... sure spiderman 3 crashed and burned, but i have really fond memories of 1 and 2

the fact that a new one is coming down the line so soon is offputting to me. i'll watch it but i am not that pumped...

It looks like pretty much the same origin story that Spiderman 1, except the chick is Gwen Stacey. It hasn't even been a decade. You can reboot the character, but I don't think you need a new origin story.

Well it's not so much a reboot (cough) as an alternate universe. Okay so no one buys that sure but while I would have loved to see a Spider-Man 4 the studio was being lame. Spider-Man is one of my favorite origin stories of all time though so maybe that's why I have no problem with it being retold to us again. Plus Gwen Stacy is awesome.

It is hard for me to get hyped for the Dark Knight Rises. Like, I am going to watch it opening weekend and I am going to love it (I am assuming) but such a void of information about it.

Avengers though I am very sold on. Loved Captain America.

Also, if they're suddenly going to try and stick to the comics continuity, why not do it properly? The die-hard fans know that Betty was the first chick Peter was into as opposed to Gwen.

Don't know why people assume it's going to be exactly like Spider-Man from 2002. Yeah, this could happen, and yeah, it's the origin story again. But it has Gwen instead of Mary-Jane and Lizard instead of Green Goblin - those are pretty major differences. And I don't recall everyone going "oh The Dark Knight is going to be exactly like Tim Burton's Batman" just because the Joker was in both.

Plus Batman Begins had already been out, so we knew the tone and themes were going to be way different than Burton's movie.

There's actually been a TON of stuff leaked about it. But they want to keep it a secret so the teaser trailer ended up being really lame (also I don't think they had shot much footage by then).

I'll watch Spiderman and probably enjoy it, but I'm tired of origin stories in superhero movies. I understand people want to know what their deal is but 1) we've already seen this one in movie form before and 2) origin stories aren't always that important.

There's actually more information out right now about TDKR than any of the other Batman movies, it's just very spoilerific. Let me just say that some of the scenes they are shooting have the potential to be absolutely incredible.

The villain being Lizard is awesome. They teased us for so long about it in the other movies. The origin story being told again is not awesome, especially since it will probably suffer from the same problem that most origin stories have in super hero movies in that it will take more than half the movie and severely ruin the potential for more action scenes.

That won't be happening any time soon, so long as FOX keeps making movies, Marvel will never get the rights back.

I'm excited for the movie, especially since I hate Tobey Maguire, so I'm really looking forward to seeing Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, I think he'll be a much better fit. Hopefully at least. I'm not happy about the origin story, but I'm really REALLY hoping they're not stupid enough to have it take up too much of the movie. They just need to somewhat glaze over it and get him into the Spidey suit as fast as possible.

For me, hype levels are:

Avengers > Dark Knight Rises > Man of Steel > Spider-Man.

It's odd that I'm more hyped for Avengers, but the idea of having all of those heroes in one movie is just so freaking awesome, and since they added Black Widow and Hawkeye, oh man, I can't freakin' wait. Dark Knight Rises will of course be amazing, but I don't know how it's going to be better than The Dark Knight, so I'm kind of hesitant to really hype it too much, and we know almost nothing of Man of Steel, so it's very difficult for me to be way excited for it, except that it'll quite possibly be a good Superman movie for once, so that makes my hype for it still greater than Spider-Man.

I am also curious about this, as well as X-Men and Fantastic Four. Surely if Avengers does well they will want to integrate these franchises into their universe. Should be interesting.

Once again, Marvel has no hope of getting Spider-Man or X-Men back any time soon. They won't possibly be able to pay the amount of money it would take to buy the rights back, and so long as FOX continues to make Spidey and X-Men movies, they'll be able to hold onto the rights.

We actually have hope for Fantastic Four though, as FOX doesn't seem to care about those rights anymore, so Marvel might at least get them back.
