Nothing really crazy there. IMO, the N9 is grouped into three tiers

Within the two contentious tiers, I'd say anything is plausible except Sephiroth>Cloud and Samus>Mario. SFF makes those extreme longshots.

How is Snake not number 3? He defeated Seph rather comfortably.
Crono not being bottom is a laugh and a half too.

Because the Noble Nine have definitely always been the same strength each year.

I think it's going to take Sonic a few good new games to move up the ladder. Sonic's never been on the high end of the N9 and his fanbase is like a battered housewife who's husband finally decided to go to AA meetings. On the other hand, there's no real reason for him to move down the list either. Mega Man and Crono aren't doing anything new in the forseeable future, so unless something strange like FFX-0 staring Auron happens. To me, Sonic seems to be secured at Number 7 for the time being.

Someone's in denial. Sonic blitzed Crono back in 2k6.. Since than, Sonic is the same, or higher(1 on 1 matches) due to some well received games. Bottom N9 is Sonic > Crono > Megaman
