I'm signing up right now and it suggested my full name. Do people use their full names so that other people and real life will recognize them? Or do they use made up names like on message boards?
From what I've seen people use either their real name typed differently, a nickname (like Jess for Jessica), their name + the first letter of their last name.
I don't see the full name often because it's written next to your Twitter name anyway.

I don't use twitter so I don't really know but it seems like everyone has either a @ or a # at the beginning of their username

Nah, @ and # are just used to mention peoples and stuff.
Like @Ayuyu means that the guy is talking to me but my username is Ayuyu.
# is more when you talk about trendy topics or other stuff.
'' Finally I'm done with work for the week #TGIF ''
Or something.
I don't use Twitter.

My Twitter name is a shorter version of my first name ("Zach" instead of "Zachary") and my last name (and no, it's not "Norn"). I've seen a lot of people do that.
Not like I use Twitter, though. I spent a combined total of 30 minutes on it. So take what I say with a grain of salt, I guess >_>
