I'd give a long winded speech about my overall feelings about it all, but I'm not in the mood to get warned so I'll just say that the event that happened 10 years ago was life changing for this country.

I've always thought that overblowing 9/11 as much as we do is absolutely delightful to terrorists to begin with, because it gives them a win every single year.
I always spend this day keeping away from it because even though I live in NY I got tired of it a very long time ago.

What, you expect people to care about far-away foreigners whose suffering has no impact on their comfortable lives? What planet have you been living on?

Not this s*** again.
Everyone has their own idea of what it means for the terrorists to win. I'm starting to think it's impossible for them to lose.

I haven't decided. But I made a pact with myself several years ago -- if I hadn't found something compelling to latch onto in life by the time I turned 26 I'd sign up for humanitarian aid somewhere in Africa for at least six months. I intend to keep it. Watching the clock tick as it does, it's kind of frightening. Part of me feels like I need to rush toward some life goal but that's just the cowardly side of us all. For the most part I look forward to it.
I've studied the relief efforts and I have some contacts. It won't be hard getting over there. After that... yeah, we'll see what happens.

yes it's overblown to high hell, but it did change the world and is an important event in history.
no that doesn't mean africa's important, as despite the fact that most of the continent is the closest thing to hell on earth, the only people the place matters to are countries who want business and businesses themselves. to everyone else, or even on a personal level to most, they're about as valuable as antarctica

Africa's problems are a result of the Black Man's lack of evolution resulting in savage forms of tribalism that other races have long escaped.
As a black man in America it's sad to see it but it exists even here in the Americanized black man. We fight and kill each other and continue to destroy our own culture with ignorance.
This is why no one cares. Plus, it's much easier to rob them of their natural resources when they're ignorant. Same reason America keeps it's people as ignorant as possible :)
