I was late to the party too (watched it around Halloween 2009 IIRC) and really loved all three. I think 2 is considered the best in most circles, but the original might be my favorite.

I'm one of those gents who love Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, but I don't really rewatch the first one ever since part 2 is, well, a reimagining that is way way cooler to me.

They're all great, but I definitely lean toward 2.

First one definitely has its moments: "You, me, Linda, Shelly... Well, not Shelly."

I watch Army of Darkness a lot.
