Man, look at all those first place votes for Ben Grimm. He's the highest ranking FF member by far just because NO ONE HATES BEN GRIMM. You may not even like the Fantastic Four, but everyone likes the ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing. He's just such a fun character, with his heavy New Yorker accent, awesome visual, and easy to understand and use power set(ITS CLOBBERIN TIME). If I could have a beer with a Marvel character, it'd be with the Thing.

Oh man Annihilators: Earthfall is out today. I just finished the first Annihilators mini, so I'm ready. I hope this leads up to Nova's return, or at least some more appearances from the other Guardians of the Galaxy that should be around somewhere.

nah, it's just a traditional anthology. some stories are previews of upcoming books, some are serialized shorts found only in DHP. it's the oldest dark horse book, but was cancelled some time ago before returning this year. the last issue had a story by dave gibbons (not a good one, mind you) and a preview of this:

Supergirl was good but it felt too short.

It also feels almost the same as the previous Supergirl's origin in Superman/Batman, only a different setting and she already has clothes on.

Still, I'm liking her more than her previous version already.

Supergirl and Blue Beetle definitely suffered from being written for the trade. Both were good though, and Blue Beetle actually has the content to merit the slow pace. Supergirl was very decompressed but not to a fault.

I was about to read Catwoman, but what the hell? That can't be possible. That would retcon stuff as recent as Batman, Inc. <_<

Not to mention Heart of Hush, which was an excellent story based around the Selina/Bruce dynamic....

I've given out a few 5s in this relaunch, and when I give something a 5 it doesn't mean it's done now wrong, it just means that any flaws it has mean almost nothing to me and don't hamper my experience of the comic. Demon Knights went by a little fast, Foreman's art on Animal Man was lazy in some of the city scenes, Frankenstein had a ton of exposition. But I still gave them a 5, because they did not effect my enjoyment in the slightest.

No matter how you look at it, Batman #1 is a perfect comic book in every way, shape, and form.

It gives us an introduction to Batman, Bruce Wayne, and nearly every major supporting cast member without halting the action at all. We see Batman's Gotham. We see Bruce Wayne's Gotham. We get a story with an intriguing cliffhanger ending that still has a completely self contained beginning, middle, and end. It's got humor, mystery, action, and beautiful, dynamic artwork. Great dialogue. It even ties directly into another comic released this week without relying on it for the full story at all. I've got nothing I can come up with that I can fault the comic for at all, and that's never happened before. Oh, well, there are 2 panels where Harvey Bullock gets copied over without changing his facial expression. "Oh no".

I realize saying Batman is the best comic of the relaunch may seem...cliche, but unless something next week pulls a miracle I'm about ready to call this one.

Green Lantern Corps did everything right that Green Lantern did wrong. Not to say I didn't like GL a lot, but it was a fake #1. GLC #1 is a real #1. It finds a way to introduce the lead characters to new readers and give them an understanding of their personalities and backgrounds. You can point to any single page where Guy Gardner speaks and it's better than his entire presence in JLI #1. John Stewart is done with his brooding sob story and is back to being a hardcore dude. The issue is all set up, but in a good way. It's great to be back to the pre-Blackest Night Tomasi issues of the series again.

Birds of Prey was just uninteresting. The art was bland, the dialogue was blander, and I don't care about any of the characters as they're represented here. Even the twist ending didn't do anything for me. It was a bad comic really, just very dull.

Blue Beetle was another all set-up comic but it managed to do quite a lot. It moved at a very fast pace and, established most of the major characters and the basic backstory of the Scarab, and even showed us what seems to be a very extended rogues gallery, including new villains and a lot of C-listers many will remember from the Teen Titans cartoon. Obviously written for the trade, but not at any sacrifice to the pacing.

Captain Atom was probably the surprise of the week. I wasn't completely turned off from Krul considering I've never touched anything from him that wasn't an Arrow book, and it seems I made the right choice. I dug this a lot. It's going for a serious Dr. Manhattan vibe, but hey, he had the gig first. There's also some crazy beautiful art here. I'll follow this one.

Catwoman was fun. It's what it was advertised to be, at least, and I had no major issue with it. Have we ever had any establishment of Selina's childhood before? Interested to see where they go with that. Great art as well.

DC Universe Presents was another surprise. I don't love it or anything, but I was actually prepared to be bored with this for some reason. Not the best book of the week, and pretty dialogue heavy, but going in knowing it's a mini-series I think it'll work.

Agreed on Wonder Woman. Except, it was the first Wonder Woman issue I've ever read, but this concept is really interesting to me. And like I said, if Wonder Woman is going to throw down with the Greek Pantheon then I'm game.

LoSH was LoSH #17. It doesn't pretend otherwise. There is no attempt to establish what is going on at all. It's even less accessible than Green Lantern, with the unfortunate issue of it not being nearly as good. Disappointing.

Nightwing wasn't amazing or anything but it was good. Solid art and solid characterization, with the signature Nightwing inner monologue we've all grown to love. Interested in the mystery, but I'm worried that I've already solved it. Oh well.

Barely anything happened in Supergirl but I still enjoyed it a lot. Great art, and I already want to know where they're going to go with this Kara.

Wonder Woman was a big success. It establishes no backstory in that it establishes that it doesn't need one. The primary character of the book is the story here, with Wonder Woman taking second fiddle, if you get what I'm trying to say. Certainly goes full on with the mythology aspect of the book, and I'm on board.

Red Hood and the Outlaws was HELLLLLLLLL YEAH all the way. Rocafort is a god. We've got interesting new characters and revamps of old ones that I'm digging, and I can't wait for more. Lobdell is 2 for 2 so far, let's see if he can manage a perfect game next week.
