So this is basically Vlado's argument: "I prefer the GameSpot contests because I enjoy unnecessary long matches, a cumbersome voting interface, and approve of contest-rigging rallies so long as the characters that make it through are interesting and are ones I happen to like."
stunning logic

Vlado | Posted 9/20/2011 2:37:41 PM | message detail | quote And what more should Gamespot do to "promote" it? There's already a link on the front page that's up at almost all times. They can't clutter their front page by actually putting the polls there, they're one of the biggest game sites, they aren't Gamefaqs.
GameSpot has a lot more content on their front page compared to GameFAQs, so it will be hard for them to put up a poll or host the matches there. When I look at GameFAQs's front page and compare it to GameSpot, it makes me realize just how barren GameFAQs's front page is.

Yeah, I remember the GameSpot polls from a long time ago. Last time I remember seeing a GameSpot poll on the front page was sometime in 2009. I don't know why they discontinued the front page poll.

First page was from January 28th and the second page was from February 2nd and the poll didn't change at all between those 2 dates. This was the poll results page for the poll you see on the above archived pages:
That poll had slightly over 13000 votes after running for like 6 days. Part of the reason for the bad vote totals was because the GameSpot Poll was located near the bottom of the front page instead of being near the top of the page. So the poll was hard to notice.
Also, the GameSpot Poll doesn't follow a consistent schedule like we are used to with the polls on GameFAQs. Our polls always change at the same exact time every day, but that isn't the case on GameSpot. I think GameSpot has to manually put up the polls and manually close the voting. And there are sometimes periods of time where there is no poll on the GameSpot front page.

LeonhartFour posted... From: Vlado | #101 It's not about "a majority" "not agreeing". It's about good and poor quality characters/games. And who defines what is good and what is poor?
Common sense.
