Well that's true, the tally is counting every nomination pair, so you could say "18,000 characters have been nominated so far" if you wanted.

Looks like it. The poor nomination totals are blamed on lower site traffic compared to last year and because it's also harder to come up with nominations for this kind of contest. I think the casuals are less likely to care about making nominations because of this. I guess the lack of a banner on the front page could also be blamed for the poor nomination totals. I just made a nomination for Alucard/Dracula earlier and when I viewed the source code, I found this in the source code: <tr ><td><input type="radio" name="del" value="12441">Alucard</td><td>Dracula</td></tr> The value that you see above is the total amount of nominations at the time I nominated Alucard/Dracula.
