Like for some reason, on board 8, I process ending a contradictory opinion with a period as dickish, but if you put an exclamation point for some reason that makes it nice.

I think that it's the same as adding "lol" at the end of a joke to let the other person know you're joking. The internet kinda lacks that whole nonverbal communication thing that we have in real life so we have to add those filler words just to make sure that we're being as clear as possible.

I understand why it's used, I just think an exclamation of all things is so odd.
As if shouting at people is the mature, nice way to get your opinion across.
