I'm thinking it goes something like this...

Britta gives the test, Jeff doesn't believe it'll mean anything at all, completely blows it off with sarcasm but at Britta/the rest of the group's begging, decides to take it anyway. When Britta comes to Jeff, he immediately points her to someone else in the group (probably Pierce?), but as the episode goes on we realize that it is in fact, Jeff.

Ideally I'd say it should end with implications, but not outright say who it is at all.

Knowing Community though, I'm guessing my predictions will be completely wrong.

My votes actually go to Annie for the "troubled" one. Former drug addict and is in love with a guy that (sort of?) doesn't want her (Jeff).
