I have only seen three shows and enjoyed all three very greatly:

Code Geass
Darker than Black

The most popular recommendations here would probably be Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Baccano!

Seitokai no Ichizon Though really, that should be left alone until you've seen others.

From what you've seen... yeah, GitS:SAC seems right up your alley. Give Cowboy Bebop a try too.

I really liked the anti-hero thing that all of them had going on (Darker than Black had less of this). I also just really grew to love all the characters and the twists that the plots took.

I should note that the second season of Darker than Black, while being not too bad, was definitely worse than the first season.

I think they are worth watching. They're mecha shows, like Code Geass.

There are more, but I only listed those off the top of my head. If you do watch them make sure to go in order of 0079/Zeta/ZZ/CCA, or go with 00 first. 00 was aired during the same time as Code Geass, so their "graphics" are on the same tier.

Steins;Gate is really good and very recent, just finished airing not too long ago.

Yes! I really enjoyed it, definitely more so than the entirety of season 2. It made me love Yin.

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
X (the series)

Those should hit the spot.

And of course, Bebop and Kenshin. And if you need 500 episodes of fighting pirate adventure, you watch One Piece.

The Lyrical Nanoha series is pretty good. Somewhat of a cross between the Giant Mecha and Magical Girl genres.

Alright, since I want to start watching tonight (I literally finished Darker than Black less than two hours ago) I think I'm going to start with Baccano since it's really short and seems to be well liked.

And Cowboy Bebop sounds oddly similar to Firefly.

I think you'll love Bebop. Also, Firefly borrows from another anime too, the whole girl in a suitcase thing (Outlaw Star).

So, we'll see what you think, but Baccano will probably have a real confusing effect on you due to its form of story telling. I would actually suggest you move on straight to another short show, FLCL, just to see it as a piece of art. Then, since you'll be sufficiently weirded out by then, move to something more standard. Like Full Metal Alchemist or Ghost in the Shell.
