Because I was just offered a job, but I would be working with my roommate that I despise as most of you know by now. The job would be nice but I really really don,t want to work with him, I barely can stand him the short amount of time we spend together, if I had to spend my whole days with him I think I'd go crazy.

Soo.. good reason? If it's not I guess I'll just need to find a good excuse.

Don't just decline it outright, tell them you'll take it but you want a much higher salary. Worst case scenario you say no, best case scenario you make a bunch of money so it's worthwhile!

I got an offer for a job with an old boss that had once disliked me so much he tried to get me fired by stealing from my till.

If I can get past that, so can you, and a job is a job.

Is a good opportunity worth setting your emotions aside?

Short answer (I will help you): Yes.

The job seem to suck, well according to my roommate, you deal with old people 24h/24.

I hate dealing with old people.

Oh and it's retail.

You can either wait for the job you want, or you can have a job at some point in your life.

Heh I have enough experience under my belt to have the right to refuse offers.

And I have already paid all the things I had to pay 2 months in advance, and I have money to spare.

Plenty of time to find something.

Crappy job with someone you hate?

Don't do it. The extra time it takes to find a better job will be worth it. If you take it, chances are you'll realize later on that it was a giant waste of time for not that much money.

Alright then, refusing ! I was pretty sure I would refuse but I needed a bit of convincing.

I think I'll go to the town hall in the next few days and ask if there's no job in tourism I could get.

This is pretty much the worst advice in this topic.

A job is a job. Money is money. You're not going to like every job, but you NEED one, and you can still look for a better one in the middle of it.

you didn't seem like you needed much convincing. it seems like you already had a plan and wanted one person to agree with you so you could do that.

That's pretty much it !

I never said I needed much convincing, just wanted to know if it was a real stupid idea.

And it is.

Yet you went ahead with it.

It depends on how you look at things. I, like Ayuyu, value my time more than a couple extra bucks. I was offering my two cents, as it has worked out for me pretty well so far.

He's got money to spare and things paid up. Why go for something you already know you're not going to like if you have a chance for something better?

He doesn't have the chance for something better right now, and even if he did, he'd have the chance even if he took the job.

How do you know? Two months is a long time.

and even if he did, he'd have the chance even if he took the job.

Finding a job is harder when you're already working. Plus, it doesn't exactly look great at the interview when you're asked how long you've been at your current job and you say two weeks.

I was just offering my opinion. Settle down.

Besides, you and I were both talking about awful customers in that other topic - I'd think you might be one of the first people to try to save a fellow b8'er from retail hell.
