As a long time fan of both Square Enix RPGs (I even liked 12) and Golden Sun, I have to admit that RF3 is far better than Dark Dawn and all the DS Dragon Quests.

I would argue TWEWY though.

Ok, I can see I made a serious error here, let me clarify before I get stoned to death.

I'm only about 4 hours into Dark Dawn and I enjoy it so far, I only assumed it was going to be on par with the other 2, and that's why I said what I did.

It was fantastic in HG/SS. Streamlined a lot of menu BS.

I actually play the game, explore the entire game, before diving into the metagame. It's a nuisance when I want to look at the Pokedex but have to exit out of my dowsing machine. I loved the way it was set up in HG/SS, tap the screen and you get on the bike, tap the screen and you run without holding B.

I do like that you only have to go through one confirmation to save. That and the infinite TMs. But then you look at the battle sprites and it's like your playing Minecraft >_> If you're going to make moving sprites do it right or don't do it at all.

HG/SS is more or less the best remake since REmake. It absolutely improves every element of the original GSC, adds depth, adds new gameplay stuff, adds extra side-missions that actually make sense, etc. Really awesome game.

Ultimately though:

1) it's a remake
2) it's a remake of GSC. There's only so much you can do with it! Johto is still small even with that massive extra route that leads to the Safari Zone and the Kyogre/Groudon cave and even with the addition of stuff like Viridian Forest, you can still breeze through Kanto pretty quickly.

BW, on the other hand...the best set of original monsters since (and maybe even including) RBY, great region layout and much better story/overall presentation. Far better game and one of the all-time greats.

I get the nostalgiagasm for HG/SS, really I do, and I think nostalgia is a perfectly fine reason to like a game, but Black/White is much better.
