Swamp Thing definitely pulls from past continuity, but it should start getting more accessible.

The Green and The Red are going to cross, yes.

It shouldn't be that hard to follow really, I haven't read any prior issues of Swamp Thing and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I have watched the movies though, so that may help, not really sure though.

That whole spiel about plants and vegetation being subtly aggressive and violent was mind blowing, though.

Yeah, I definitely liked it enough to wanna get it again next month. Need to get another bat-book while I wait...

Do you mean a Bruce Wayne book, or any book in the Batman category?

Batman and Batman & Robin are the only 2 good ones staring Batman.

Any graphic novel from the book store that will get me up to date with the continuity. I *think* I saw Batman & Robin Vol 4 last time I went? Idk what it was, but it was some new grey book I never seen before that featured Dick and Damian. I'll probably either get that or that Jason Todd one I mentioned last topic.

STILL waiting for them to collect Batman Inc. And Arkham City.

The Black Mirror was Snyder's (Swamp Thing, Batman) Detective Comics arc, the last arc for volume 1. It is superb, one of the best Batman stories ever told. The hardcover coming out collects all 11 issues, you won't want to miss it.

I also recommend Detective Comics, and personally Batman & Robin isn't essential in my book.

Definitely check out Batman: Year One like others have suggested, it's timeless and a must.

Personally The Black Mirror is pretty good, but I don't consider it one of the best. Also, speaking of Frank Miller, the way they draw a certain villain there reminds me a lot of Sin City.

Black Mirror is good, but like most things comic fans love, not THAT good. It looks good compared to a lot of the other crap that comes out, but its the last story arc feels rushed and really goes off the rails

Hell yes.

And regardless of what some people say, don't get Detective Comics. Tony Daniel is a piss-poor writer, especially when it comes to Batman.

Also, for Swamp Thing, I haven't read any past books about him and I understand what's going on perfectly. What are you confused about?

Just read that Liefeld article. Good read.

Halfway through, I was thinking, "man I hope he ends this on a funny note like and I still can't draw feet" but he actually did better.

"Laugh at yourself. it’s the single most important aspect of surviving this crazy business. And that’s from the man that gave Cap boob’s."

Bravo.

Suit yourself. You could be reading way better stories by WAY better writers though.

As for Swamp Thing history... there's not much. If you wanna know about him, just go to wikipedia. They'll have enough to fill you in, I'm sure.

Just read Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth by Grant Morrison. Good story, and the art fit the story, the only thing I didn't care for was the font used for Joker, some of that was really hard to read.

I mean the New Mutants and X-Force issues that he drew pretty much ruined my life.

I think what Liefeld's biggest problem boils down to is he need to seemingly FILL a certain area of the page with the character, no matter what kind of odd scaling that results in, probably because he's terrible at backgrounds.

If you had someone else drawing the backgrounds, I think Liefeld could put out some much better work.

No I understand. I'm not refusing to read because I hate Liefeld, I'm sure he's a nice guy with a lot of cool things to say. I just don't think that article will really be worth reading much at all. But maybe later when I get bored, I'll give it a whirl.

Don't forgot, there's a 20% sales deduction on all returnable titles. Doin't remember which weren't, but that could end up shaking this list up, especially since nobody seems to be doing any returning.

As for the Marvel vs. DC stats, Marvel also had twice as many books, most of them more expensive.
