first two I saw that seemed especially bad. there's a lot of bad ones but those stood out.

others that especially stand out:
Tidus/Jecht
Crono/Lavos

there are a few legit rivalries mixed in, though. Northwest division is full of them:
Squall/Seifer
Laharl/Mid-Boss
Sora/Riku

and I can see Ramza/Delita even though that's a tad iffy

There's a ton iffy about Ramza/Delita. When are they ever against each other?

Ramza and Delita are foils (and excellent foils at that, but nevertheless), not rivals.

Except Yuna was the one who first took the initiative to figure out that Seymour was evil, remember? And it's the fact that they do see things differently that make them rivals. Yuna believes that Spira has hope for salvation, she believes that there's a chance she can beat Sin for good (that's why she's so upset when she finds out it's not true - she hoped that her sacrifice might be enough, and when she knew it wouldn't be, she felt sacrificing people for temporary peace was unacceptable). Seymour believes that Spira cannot be saved except by killing everyone so they don't have to suffer any more. They have two fundamentally different approaches to the same problem, they are unquestionably rivals.

Ness/Giygas was the rabid Mother fanbase's attempt to get more of their cannon fodder into our contests, so at least give them this one.

But yeah, the bracket is about half-real rivalries, half trash.
