I strongly disagree there. The game is all about atmosphere and the first hour gives you the atmosphere and the core gameplay-- I don't think you're going to like it if you hate the first hour. As long as you get to the hotel I think you have a decent idea of the atmospheres in the game. The story develops but I wouldn't even really say it gets "progressively better."
Though it's worth noting that I just realized my earlier post implied I disliked the game-- I don't dislike the game. But at the same time this match isn't close for me like everyone was saying that's why I said "easily"

I wouldn't say the first hour gives you a good example of the atmosphere at all. You might not have even gotten to an actual major area yet like the Apartments, or had anything actually really happen. And while it's a good representative of the core gameplay, most poeple hates the SH gameplay the most before they get used to it so an hour doesn't help there either.
The outside is pretty creepy-- I actually preferred the outside environment to the inside environments as far as creepiness goes. Course I'm sure not everyone feels that way so I kinda agree you should get to the apartments that's what I meant by "as long as you get to the hotel I think you have a decent idea of the atmospheres" I just named it wrong.
But that's totally doable in the first hour, and I still don't really see a likely turnaround for anyone from hate to even like. At best I'd expect "this is a little better but still bad."
