-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet. -This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote. -BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted. -Rallying is allowed. Alts are not. -Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below). -Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started. -Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media. -Similarly, fighters are unaware of their opponents capabilities at the start of the fight unless their powers facilitate them information (like knowing all there is to know in the universe - this would include who the opponent is and what he can do, as well as weaknesses) -You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead! -Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating. -Bracket Link, for viewing past results and future matches: http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?&tid=408528&tclass=
Past Results: What a quiet, quiet start for Round 2...Lord Foul destroys Mewtwo, but doesn't get enough votes for a mercy. He will face the winner of today's match. Votals: 2-11 (6) Luke Skywalker
From Star Wars, Luke Skywalker is one of the most powerful Jedi Knights of all time. Able to tap into the Force, the life energy that permeates all things, Luke exhibits this connection through telepathic and telekinetic abilities. He fights with a lightsaber, an energy-based weapon that can instantly cut through most objects, in addition to both his natural and trained Force abilities.
Luke can use Force Sense to judge positions of objects and future movements of people; his Telekinesis has been so strong as to fight the pull of a miniature black hole and crush spaceships, as well as teleport objects around; his use of Force Defend was once described as rooting him in the center of the Force itself, becoming the essence of the immovable object; and his skill with a lightsaber allowed him to cut through countless warriors as well as Yuuzhan Vong Slayers, beings bred and trained solely to kill Jedi. His signature Electric Judgment move consists of green sparks that can disable or kill opponents instantly.
vs. (7) Yusuke Urameshi
From YuYu Hakusho, Yusuke Urameshi is the teenage protagonist, a Spirit Detective. Yusukes most common technique is the Spirit Gun, an energy beam which can be projected from small shot to a full-sized cannon blast from his index finger; when reborn as a half-demon, Yusuke upgrades this to the Demon Gun, which is more powerful and can be used so long as he has demon energy.
Yusuke also has other ranged attacks, such as the Shotgun, which fires widespread shots, and Spirit Gun Rapid Fire, which fires all the blasts of his gun rapidly. He can also attack physically with the Spirit Light Bullet, which turns his entire body into a Spirit Gun.
Up this goes. It appears people haven't noticed, but after a noticeable delay, we've moved on to the second match of round 2. >_>

Spirit Energy is tough to compare to the Force... and I'm quite sure is easily shrugged off by it...
Yusuke... wouldn't really have a chance... even if he did take out his Demon mode...
Plus, it would be Yusuke's downfall since he rages mid-fight while Luke can stay calm and control his powers perfectly because of that... (kind of in-character, but don't know if that stands a point)
yusuke's main advantage really comes down that he's a hell of a lot faster than luke, and luke really can't take a punch from the guy. luke has better output, but in terms of speed the guy's pretty much a snail to yusuke. pretty much is what decides it.

Azp2k32 posted... Luke. The way I see the battle, the telekinetic power and ability to force crush come before just about anything. Unless Yusuke can stop/kill Luke before Luke can manage a single force crush.... Yusuke just really doesn't have the defense needed to turn this into a battle.
Is it in character for Luke to use force crush? Especially right at the start?

Changed my post before you posted that. >_> I think it's perfectly realistic for him to use telekinesis to hold Yusuke, at very least, and since no defenses are really detailed in the write-up, telepathically invade the guy and render him useless up until he figures out what Yusuke's trying to do, at which point Yusuke's already defenseless and is very much in the grip of a man who at very least wants to defend himself.
by the time he'd know to tk yusuke, hell so much as be able to target yusuke, he's already been punched in the face. outspeeds luke by at least 20:1. even accounting for his reflexes, just plain outclassed badly in that area, and he's not taking even a single punch.

On sheer terms of strength, speed, the output of his attacks, and durability, Yusuke outdoes Luke in every single area. All it takes is him landing one hit and Luke's relatively frail human body is irreversibly ****ed, and Yusuke's done way more than one hit on people a lot faster and stronger.
Luke's "strong" and all, but he's a glass cannon and all it takes is someone to be even slightly able to deal with his level of speed (ie: sub-early DBZ) or output (lightsaber's good, but the level of Yusuke's stuff later on is getting towards respectable DBZ level, and even Kuwabara's flame sword damn near matches the lightsaber and he's practically a jobber relative to everyone else).

As much as I want to see Luke move on he's kind of boned here. Yusuke is just way too fast for him, unless Luke manages to Force Hold him, and Luke's only gonna open with that if he realizes how dangerous Yusuke is before getting hit.
Then again Luke can sense Yusuke's intent to attack him before Yusuke even really knows he's going to...I dunno, this is kind of tough. Luke basically has to shut Yusuke down pretty quick to survive. There's a lot he can do to accomplish that, but the question is would he?
Yusuke is a goddamn tank by the end of Yu Yu Hakusho, and he becomes like... ultra super mega fast, I'm pretty sure he can get right up in your face and punch you 100 times at full force in less than a second
would easily put kuwabara's sword over any light saber. like early on they could be comparable but by the time he exited, no chance, dimension slicing and ignoring durability was pretty much what he ended up having. of course he was dumb and slower (and human so he got the ass end of the stick there) than the rest of the main crew, but still easily better than luke for parameters.
but yeah, generally yyh is lacking in speed feats, but we do know that hiei sliced a good 16 or so times in the time it took someone to blink at the series beginning, younger toguro could shoot air bullets by flicking his fingers that should be low machs (most likely meant to be about the same or a bit better than a normal bullet) during the middle, sensui had them covering kilometers pretty easily, and by the final arc nothing really made sense anymore except they just kept power scaling a lot. the anime took some liberties on a couple things that weren't in the manga. speed though wasn't one of them, and you can pretty easily bench for a min speed for yusuke, hiei, and kurama to be somewhere in mach teens or in the 20s. either way it's quite a ways above luke's anything. some people get pretty crazy and try to make calculations that don't make sense, but just strictly by power scaling and not trying to do dumb stuff like calculating special effects that's roughly where you ought to get.

Easy enough speed thing is they're on par with or above late DB/early DBZ, where regular humans literally can't keep up with where anyone is using their eyes. Or the other common example being they hit someone hard enough to send them flying, and then move fast enough that they're already waiting where he's headed to spike the guy into the ground before he's even lost any velocity.

pfft, every anime does that. hell i'm pretty sure kenshin did both those. i mean i guess they're the standard anime speed things but yeah. pretty sure luke applies to that too!
of course here he wouldn't have a head if yusuke hit him hard enough so yeah.

Well in the manga, at the end, there is a literally a part where Yusuke and co subjugate a group of humans in different rooms like 5 seconds, during which they have time to play rock paper scissors or something.
Up for arguments. Curious to see if Luke's side can muster any counterarguments.
