I'm down for supporting Koei and this series (even if they've been pretty lame about glitched DLC), but MixJoy in this day and age is just ridiculous.
DW7 is amazing, I loved it when I had my free month trial from GameFly, and I'm still loving it now that I'm borrowing my friend's copy. Glad I didn't cave and buy DW7 right away. Looks like I won't have to pay $80 to get the full experience, hooray! Cuz I'm poor but I really like killing Chinese dudes. :(
I almost bought DW5, DW5XL, and DW5Empires because they're all pretty cheap on Amazon, but after hearing this news I decided I'm just gonna wait for this game. Woo~
The new stuff in this game seem really cool... but I still have so much to do in DW7. I really should get back to playing that, I miss the music so much.
I've never bought an empires/XL DW game, so I think I will continue that. I don't regret buying DW7 all those months ago. I'll probably get DW8 when it comes out, too (given that it is as awesome as DW7 was).
Hm, that's cool. Still doubt I'll buy this. I still want to play through story modes on DW7 again, and if I'm gonna spend money, I'd rather buy the DLC. Glad they're adding Guo Jia though, but there's just not enough incentive here for me to buy a whole game again. I already have too much to play as it is.
After I played and hated the first Samurai Warriors, I stayed away from anything that didn't have "Dynasty" in the title. Are they actually worth playing? I'm not a fan so much of the wacky plot, so the gameplay has to be something pretty different to get me hooked.
They're good. WO2 has all the characters from Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and then some Orochi exclusive characters, usually from Japanese and Chinese mythology. You can make a team of three characters and switch off between them in the middle of playing.
I don't care too much for the anime spinoffs, but I'm a big fan of Samurai Warriors. That era is the Japanese equivalent of the Three Kingdoms, but you probably need to have an interest in Japanese history to enjoy it, much in the same way DW is better when you're familiar with ROTK.
Actually, you need to do mixjoys occasionally. From what I heard in Japan BBS, if you connected to PSN, you should be fine for about 3-4 days before you need to mixjoys again.

I disagree, I'd bet a large portion of DW fans got into the Three Kingdoms story because of Dynasty Warriors. Everyone that I know who likes it did, at least.

Maybe. It was the other way around for me, but I can believe that. I think all Warriors games are enjoyable on a basic level - they're 3D beat-em-ups with fun, addictive gameplay. I just think knowing about the characters and setting helps make them more enjoyable.
