Heh, if a game such as this would come to life it would be pretty niche, but niche doesn't mean unsuccessful.

As much as I hate all bastards like that, its a good article.

The danger level would be more addictive than an offput I think. MMOs these days are no more than their daily grind.

Exactly, play Eve if you want that. Doesn't Guild Wars fit as well? I'm not as familiar with that one.

I'm not a fan of the whole sci-fi setting.

There's Darkfall that's kinda like that but apparently it's a bugged mess of a game, and Aventurine is pretty bad as a developper or so I've heard.

And Guild Wars is as far from this you can get.
