Never had a chance to play the PSX version of the game with the added FMVs and such. As I'm sure most of you know it's far and away my favorite Final Fantasy. Beaten the SNES version about 10 times now as well as the GBA version once.
I always heard how bad the load times are, but I just watched a video of it on youtube and it didn't seem too awful...like 4 seconds at most.
thundersheep posted... it's pretty much the same game.
This was the latest game I beat and I did it on PSN. Load times aren't ridiculous. FMV aren't too special and only happen at the beginning of the game.
The load times really aren't bad at all, though of course they are worse than the original (PSX game and all that). I always found some of the crying about them a bit bizarre, since they were sooo much shorter than load times of contemporary games like FF9 and CC (which take nearly 30 seconds to get into a battle). Chrono Trigger's the only one of the FFA/FFC re-releases that had especially bad load times and even then they weren't FF9/CC level.
Perfectly acceptable way to play the game. I don't think the various versions of the game differ in ways I find tremendously important, so I'd get whichever version you find most accessable.

so what say you
It's not the load times that are the problem it was the fazing method used for going in and out the battle screen Square used to mask it. I'm imagining people still have to deal with that no matter what.
Another interesting tidbit: Siren shows her ass in the summon gallery Anthology added. It's nothing spankable, but it's rather funny since it either means they goofed with censoring it or got REALLY lazy with "uncensoring" the entire game.
For instance, I remember they changed Ultima Weapon's "GO!" to "DIE!" yet didn't/forgot to change things like "Cafe" to "Bar/Saloon/Tavern".
The load times are pretty bad. They are like other PS1 FF load times just with a black screen instead of circling the battle arena so its more noticeable
I also think the load times are bad. If this was the ONLY version of FFVI available, I wouldn't complain, but why would anyone choose to play this version when there's a superior version out there? The FMV adds nothing, imo.
From my short stint with the PS1 version, the load times didn't really bother me that much. Definitely not to the crippling extent of CT at least. IIRC they kind of made up for it with auto-dash even without sprint shoes, and wearing sprint shoes made your dash even faster.
Though I seem to recall the sound effects for the PS1 version being pretty bad in comparison which did bother me a little.
