transcience posted... the problem is that the NBA should appoint a GM and give them autonomy. you can't have people with a vested interest in other teams dictating personnel moves for New Orleans. it's insane. I can see giving Stern or Silver the power to do that, but not other owners. NO just feels like a joke team now.
man, they had Martin, Scola, Gasol and Dragic for Paul. good lord.
hornets were supposed to get odom!
and yeah this is kinda hilarious
(edit) - though let's be honest... i would much rather have paul to lakers than howard to lakers if it's one or the other...

Luis Scola tweeted today that he's glad the airport is right next to the arena in case he gets retraded. so yeah, everyone affected is a little unhappy. five teams is a bit much though. Knicks never had a shot at Paul unless they gave up Anthony or Amare and why bother.
I think the fact that New Orleans would have won this trade, but yet it was vetoed by the owners because they were worried about creating another SuperTeam, says all you need to know about how bad most NBA owners are.
As if the lockout wasn't enough.

You guy serious? The lockout was prolonged for such a time because they didn't want these things to happen. How would the Lakers taking the Hornets' single best player, a point guard at that, NOT be against the terms of the new CBA? Here's some old people, none of which have ever actually LED a successful team, and some young guys who also have never really led a successful team, in exchange for your dude who single handedly makes your team a contender. ESPECIALLY to the Lakers of all teams...I think Stern wants CP to go to New York anyway LAWL
Chris Paul isn't re-signing with the Hornets after the season. Everybody knows this. With this trade, at least NO gets something for him as opposed to absolutely nothing when he walks in free agency.

What Shadow said.
And it's not like they get nothing. Weren't they getting Odom and Scola or Kevin Martin? Chris Paul is cancer in Nawlins. This is going to be terrible for the team if he stays now.

not sure if serious
Paul is gone after this year. So to avoid another Lebron situation, trade him and be done with it. They were getting good pieces and would have an overall better team for the next couple years.
forget the fact that Paul is gone next year -- this was going to be a better team on opening day than what they had. retaining some value players after this year would be icing on the cake.
why the hell are people saying they're getting (or would have gotten) howard too? they needed either odom or gasol to get him. if it took both of them to get paul, they can't get howard.
no team in the league has the pieces to trade for both (except for the heat technically, but obviously they wouldn't)

howard wanted to play in LA and he wanted to play with cp3... so he would have gone there next year
