...In my opinion. Treasure Adventure Game is the name, 2+ years in the making. A lot of fun, finally got it's full release earlier today. Been playing the beta for some time now, and still not quite 50% complete with the game I don't think. While beta testing, the maker of the game said it took him 5 hours to beat, and he knows all the ins and outs, so it's probably a 7+ hour adventure. Collecting treasures, searching for your dad, huge open world to explore, challenging bosses, lots of charm, I highly recommend it.
La-Mulana is good stuff for sure, unfortunately it runs at like half speed on my computer. Waiting for the Wii version to come out. I also really like Spelunky.

also, I didn't mean for my post to sound so negative <_<... just recommending even more games that people don't really know enough (cave story is good as well :x lol)
and thank you very much for the game in the original post, i'll check it out and report back with my opinions
I was just using Cave Story as an example, because it's one of the more popular freeware games out there, that's all. Nothing against La-Mulana or even Spelunky, both very high quality, very fun freeware games.
All I'm saying is if I were to try to tier the freeware games, this one would probably be right up there with them, that's how much I'm enjoying it. Just so much to do and explore, really good stuff, a lot of work went into this game and it shows.
From: PrinceKaro | #023 Where do I replenish my lockpick supply in this?
Well if you haven't yet figured it out, after a certain point in the game you will see these little robots, one is outside the museum, they sell lock picks for 20 coins a piece. I like to make sure I'm always carrying 3.
I'll try a bump here. Just got a little over 60% complete, beat another boss. Second boss in the game I beat in my first try without too much difficulty, of course I can remember at least 2 bosses that gave me some troubles as well...
Well I've finished the game and have to say all in all it was a pretty good experience. Though I'm a bit disappointed you don't ever get to visit the islands silhouetted in the background. Also, the prizes for collecting temporal fragments suck. Especially the final one.
Btw, you can use the magic bottle on those little mini rifts to quickly move about the world or to change the time of day. It would have saved me much aggravation if I had learned about that sooner then right at the very end.
Woah, I thought this topic died. With work and all, I still haven't beaten it. Over 70% complete though, so I'm nearly there.

Hah, I just figured this one out recently myself. I knew they were portals of some sorts, I just didn't know how to work them. Just screwing around I tried to catch one in the jar and sure enough.
