Wow I guess Other M really hurt her reputation (what with the constant crying and acting like a girl.) To think there was a point were she could hold her own against powerhouses like Sephiroth.
I dont think the rivalry format is a factor. People just vote for their favourite game hence why this tournament has been the least exciting in living memory.

The rivalry format is definitely a factor. How big a factor, well, that's a good question. But it definitely has some impact on how the contest goes.

Sadly, it is a huge factor though. Sub-Zero isn't going to miraculously pull off 73% on Leon nor is Pokemon Trainer Red coming close to beating Samus or even Luigi in a 1vs1 setting.

pokemon is a much more popular series than metroid
and yeah, other M happened, though I think it's a repressed memory for most so idk if that really affects voting.

Which is a travesty, and a general affront to gaming really.

Pokemon got my vote only because Samus beat Big Boss and I am salty and probably not the only one. So Samus is probably losing a lot of votes from angry mgs fans.

Actually, you very well might be the only one. It is the rare circumstance where any meaningful amount of anti-votes comes from jaded fans taking "revenge" for that contestant having beaten their favorite. It takes a hotly contested rivalry like SSBM v. SSBB to cause that.
No,rivalry matters.Does anyone really cares for Ridley?Nope.

What do you mean Sadly??? This is a friggin RIVALRY CONTEST. RIVALRY factor should be the biggest factor(it isn't the case for every match but still)
How is it Sad? Do you want Leon Ada to beat Scorpion/Sub?
Samus/Ridley is a crap rivalry. So they are doing crap. IT's not rocket science.
