I'm looking to get into reality TV and was thinking of watching these two. Can anyone recommend a good season to start with for each show? I've heard the first seasons are a bit harder to get into, and would like something that is more interesting, but still simple and easy to understand.
Survivor Gabon and Tocantins (Seasons 17 and 18) are my personal favorites, and are the first two seasons in HD. I find that watching Survivor seasons in order isn't necessary, and watching some of the later seasons then watching Season 1 later is really interesting / entertaining since you're able to see how much the game, and the way it's played has evolved over time.
Big Brother seasons are all pretty consistent I find. 6 and 8 in particular was pretty good if I recall correctly. However, I recommend you don't start on 9 since it follows a different format, 7 since it's an All Stars season (Definitely worth watching though), and it's not a group of strangers like the other seasons, or 13 since it features returning house guests.
tl;dr:
Survivor: Gabon and Tocantins Big Brother: 6 and 8
BB2 Survivor 1, but then Skip straight to Pearl Islands just to see the evolution.

Yeah, I agree. You can't skip Survivor 1, because the game has evolved so much that watching Borneo AFTER some of the more recent seasons wouldn't allow you to appreciate it as much.

Captain Tracy Mombaro and Agent Mirasuke Inhara: Two of the toughest, hottest furrs you'll ever meet.
Survivor is one that you have to start at the beginning. Season 1 is such a different game than it is now. My advice is to start from season 1 and don't skip any seasons if possible. You'll see the game evolve & devolve.
The only season of either one you should skip is Big Brother 1. And maybe Big Brother 9, which was the season they put up on short notice due to the writer's strike and it was awful. Other than that, watch the seasons in order.

My rivalry with SuperNiceDog turned out a bit one-sided.
Seasons 1 +2 is a good start for Survivor. The two winners pretty much show the two main ways to win the game, and the two play styles of Survivor. Pretty crucial seasons. Other seasons that I think are important watches, either for quality reasons or because they say something about the game itself:
Marquesas Amazon (Maybe. I've seen it described as a parody of Survivor almost, so not sure how good it would be without seeing all that came before.) Pearl Islands All-Stars Vanuatu or Guatemala Palau Exile Island Cook Islands or Fiji (Bad seasons, but are reflective of the way the game has changed) Micronesia Samoa + Heroes Vs. Villans (Bad editing, but at least tell an interesting story about playing Survivor.
Season 2 for Big Brother. The first "proper" season, and still the best

My bracket wasn't good enough to beat SuperNiceDog's in the GameFAQS Rivalry Rumble. Congrats! This is Yesmar.

Season 9 has some awesomeness. The worst season ever is easily season 13. What a boring joke, rig-job that pile of crap was.
BB11 and 13 had the most blatant rigging, I think. I might say the same had I seen 8 live. 13 sucked, sadly, and it's the one I spent the most time devoted to.
all survivor seasons are worth watching and all BB seasons starting with 2 are worth watching (except maybe 13) so yeah what pretty much everyone else said

ya right you are case the sunglasses have 3d so i can see right threw their clothes -ertyu (about wearing sunglasses to stare at boobs without girls noticing)
I hated BB9 at first, but I rewatched it this year and I enjoyed it. The pathetic rigging at final four HOH is unforgivable though. I wish Grodhog would leave and Shapiro would come back.
But then again, my fave member won that season. It was still pathetic though.
